Suggustions

This forum supports the Early Access Program for the PC for Buzz Aldrin's Space Program Manager (SPM). iOS, Android and Mac releases are still in development. SPM is the ultimate game of space exploration. It is the mid 1950s and the race for dominance between the US and the Soviet Union is about to move into a new dimension: space. Take charge of the US or Soviet space agencies - your duty is be the first to the moon. Carefully manage your budget by opening programs, spending R&D funds on improving the hardware, recruiting personnel and astronauts and launching space missions in this realistic turn based strategy game.

Suggustions

A couple of thoughts.

1. Assign Mission number / name. The default could be Program name - Launch number (Gemini 4 for the 4th launch in the Gemini program), but perhaps we could have the ability to override with our own name.

2. History. A new tab on all flight crew and controllers, that would list the mission and positions they participated in.

I like to see astronauts/cosmonauts sometimes do not pass the regularly med test, so they become off duty.

Wernher von Braun is in the game.
Build more historical figures/scientists into the game!

• Disaster/explosion cut scenes. At least a fireball (+sound). It follows a rushing screen. (OK - this is certainly not a new proposal).
• Historical personnel. Wernher von Braun and Buzz Aldrin are mentioned as historical figures by name. 115 German scientists from Peenemunde moved to the USA 1945. None of them can be found in the game.
• (American) Germans only at NASA and (Soviet) German only in the USSR.
• Biographies of historical personalities.
• Perhaps the German scientists on the part of NASA should be a bit better than the German scientists of the USSR.
• For USSR players count down in Russian language and Cyrillic letters as an option.

As I mentioned on the Slitherine site:

- Being able to rush R&D to try to make up time, plus associated events, lowered morale etc
- Being able to assign advanced ground testing to possibly avoid need for flight testing later plus associated events, being able to assign astronauts and other staff to improve tests etc, test animations possibly
- Separate off from R&D the construction/fabrication element, being able to rush it with possible short cuts or sending out packages of work to other companies, associated events, new building and personnel type
- Better navigation and more immediately accessible opened program list button
- Launch pad rocket readiness animations on the space centre view located to reflect scheduled launches, plus scheduled launches list, possibly manual construction and upgrading of launch facilities structures to enable future mission programs
- Something to show what missions have been completed - removing from the list etc
- More hypersonic plane missions or possibly extended plane missions (because I like them!)
- Better mission control room view
- Launch readiness animations such as travelling to launch pads, standing on launch pad with smoke animations, slightly slower mission animations of key events to enhance suspense
- Weather delays resulting in being able to retain launch readiness and launch again with minimal disruption/choice to abort but where possibly changing weather/temperature may gradually have more affects on reliability/morale the longer the missions/personnel stand ready
- New chained events, some possibly with user choice of a couple of different options that each might have different effects although some should be a choice between the devil or the deep blue sea
- Failures some random but most non-random that inform you of what you need to address and some might be attributed to time of year like ice or overheating - possibly change from Q1, Q2 etc to instead Winter, Spring, Summer and Autumn to reflect this (quarters only make sense in economic terms anyway)

Great game by the way!

Clothing of employees.

The employees should wear professional clothing in the photos.

• Astronaut: Astronaut suit.
• SET Personal: White overalls.
• Flight controller: shirt and tie.

This makes them easier and more clearly distinguishable in the assembly/assignments view.

To increase the number of decisions and increase the depth of strategy, here are a couple more suggestions for adding to the game:
(Duration of flight in days)* (Average Science Score of Crew)*(1 if Mercury, 1.5 if Gemini, 2.0 if Apollo)
- Give an additional number of prestige points for a manned mission based on the average science score of the astronauts. This would give additional incentive to fly astronauts who are skilled in science. A possible formula would be:

-Have a mission pay and order the rocket and spacecraft 3 or four seasons in advance. Also have the crew and back up crew identified at this point to simulate crew being trained for a specific mission. If used in conjunction with a random crew events, it would encourage players to have a larger astronaut pool. Additionally, it would require players to preplan. Could also implement a system that would allow the player to stockpile rockets and spacecraft, as NASA did in real life.
