Battalion assets?

Post by WABAC »

US battalions (at least) seem to be missing many of the assets I see associated with them in various sources. I mean the mortar platoons, scout platoons, AT companies, etc.

Playing the HOW campaign now and would love to have every possible thing that could put metal in the air.

Wondering what the thought process is when battalion assets are present or absent.

Love the game.

It is a matter of how he scenario was built by the designer. In the database we have a good number of the formations and equipment from the 80s. If you are wanting more stuff on the field you can jump in a build your own scenario too.
OTS is looking forward to Southern Storm getting released!

I understand. And I have looked at the spreadsheets.

I am actually thinking about Norway 80's and the "Hessian Corridor" in the Pentomic era for scenario design if I can find the time. I did a lot of research on the latter topic as a TOAW scenario before I ran out of gas on the game engine after thousands of hours of play.

Since all of the stock scenarios seem to be by one designer I am looking forward to his thoughts on the choices made.

Thank you for jumping in. It's nice to see you guys so involved.

My thought process was basically if it can go wrong it will go wrong. If you play the scenarios enough you will begin to see that there is something 'missing' or in very short supply in all of them. No units in this game are at 100% TOE/ORBAT.

I never saw a unit deploy with everything they were supposed to have in the 4 years I was on active duty. Those with longer military careers than mine may be able to add some extra comments to that, but I expect that's the norm.

In situations of extreme stress, and I can't imagine a surprise attack by one military on another being more stressful to either, things get lost, broken or are already missing to begin with.

So, that's it. Hope it works for you.

Thank you for the insight. I thought it was something like that.

I am from Missouri, so I have to ask.
