In the morning action the TB's I had set for Naval Attack at Columbo fly a sortie where they are accosted by Zero's. NJP has finally exposed his vector of assault on India. It is kind of reassuring actually. I was starting to get worried that it would be somewhere else.

In our banter he advised me that Ceylon is vital to secure the Japanese flank which is pretty obvious. I told him that I hope he is prepared for a tough fight!

As for Ceylon, the only troops on it now are the static forts and BF at Columbo and Trincomlee. All the other troops including 300 AV of infantry, that oooh so sweet naval headquarters, the AF headquarters and numerous AA units have been dispersed to defend the mainland of India.

The longer it takes him to figure out that Ceylon is undefended the more time I have to get reinforcements to Karachi. One of 3 brigades of Aussie troops is loading at Adan currently and the other 2 will arrive within 5 days. If I can get those to the mainland it will be really hard for him to make progress. I am guessing it will take 1 day to for him to get AF up after taking the base and then 2-3 days after that for him to start with the recon. It wont take longer than 5 days for him to likely get to the gates of Columbo anyway. If he unloads 1000 AV of troops and races them across the island it will be funny though!! He might also swing around and directly assault it but that would not be the best way to take the island. Stay tuned!

Burma is almost completely empty. Within 2 weeks all Allied troops will have left the building. NJP has not sent as much as a scout to the gates of Moulemein or Pegu or Tavoy to realize they are empty. Once I get those troops to Dimapur it is 500+ AV into the Indian mainland - I give this 3 weeks to be effective. He will likely have taken a number of cities on the continent by then but hopefully the pressure will get him to back off and go back to Ceylon pretty quick. I am sure he is going to fortress that island so taking it back is not going to be easy. Sacrificing hundreds of AV of troops and support to defend it against the inevitable first invasion seemed to be a waste. Those same troops can be part of the amphibious assault to take it back as they would have been dead anyway. I am getting a little ahead of myself here though...

He is moving toward Perth with a couple Brigades plus another unit on the north and has the 4th division somewhere to the south. His combined AV was 680 when he initially attacked Geraldton and that included these units. I have 480 AV in Perth with lvl 3 fortifications. He can likely take it over time but will lose troops over it. My concern is any additional attacks on Australia and where the KB is. I finally have 3 squadrons of fighters for defense and there are more on the way by ship but Aussie starts out with almost nothing in terms of airpower. I was debating a strategic retreat east but I am not really in the mood to retreat any more. This may be a mistake, we will see. About 100 AV of Armor in 4 units will converge on Kalgoorlie(sp) in a few turns and I am going to use that to harass the troops at Geraldton and get a better perspective on where his troops are.

I am building up Socotra. Initially I pulled the engineers from there but then decided to use one of the regiments from Columbo plus a tank battalion and defend this as it would be a PITA if he builds a base on it. This also gives me another focal point for a counter attack if and when he decides to assault it. There is about 150 AV of troops there and several BF's that were bought out from being destroyed earlier. They showed up at Aden and I moved them immediately. Let them recover at Socotra.

Men & Materials are starting to trickle in at CT. Over the next month Diego Garcia can see some reinforcements. The 18th Division is there with over 400AV of force but it could still be overwhelmed. I want to get at least another regiment there and some decent aircraft. This is one of my major forward assault bases. If he tries to take this we are gonna fight hard.

Worst day for the allies to date... I tried to set up a surprise attack with several heavy cruisers, light cruisers and destroyers. The KB was not where it was supposed to be and the attack completely missed. In addition the CV Ceres and POW who were supposed to be leaving the area got caught up in the activity.

Essentially it was a total blowout for the Japanese and will result in the destruction of a light carrier, a battle ship and numerous cruisers and destroyers. Tokyo Rose was right for once...

I did manage to sink a Japanese destroyer when it attempted a raid on Cochin and found 3 light cruisers waiting.

Columbo

Well, he managed to get Columbo which was a foregone conclusion. What he did not get was the 100K in fuel and the supplies. He probably ended up with 4K supplies or so for the whole adventure.

Ceylon will not likely be easy to get back but I could not really think of a good way to keep it. I have managed to keep the fuel and supplies out of his grasp which is one of the few reasons to come to India in the first place.

SW Australia

Maybe I have lost my mind but I am already completely focused on counter attacking NJP about everywhere on the map.

Here is the map of SW Australia. NJP originally landed with 680AV at Geraldton. He then proceeded to pick up 1/2 of that - the 4th Division and amphibiously transport them to Busselton. From there the 4th moved north and took Cunderdin.

He left no troops at Busselton and I should be able to take it back shortly.

It appears that the 4th division is at or near Cunderdin and most of the remaining muscle he brought initially is 1 hex west. I have almost 500 AV behind lvl 3 forts to his 680 AV. He wont take me out of Perth without a fight.

I have gotten tired of waiting so I am moving troops west. 500 AV in 2 divisions will get to Kalgoorli within a few days. I am either going to move directly west and take back cunderdin and confront NJP or move NW and attempt to attack Geraldton and cut NJP off. That all depends upon troop movements and whether he gets replacements.

I have left only 330AV at Sydney but there is a couple hundred more on the way from places like Townsville.

2 transport fleets carrying aircraft and supplies from the east coast just landed at Sydney. I can have heavy bombers at Perth shortly if I choose to do so. Perth does not have much AV support so I will have to figure that part out.

The 164th Infantry regiment got bought out and is prepping for transport to Melbourne along with a bunch of other goodies including over 200 Aviation support, a couple battleships and some AE & AO so we can start the counter attacks along the coast of Australia.

Depending on Timing the 164th Regiment will be forming up with 2 other regiments due in a month at Melbourne and forming a division - the Americal? I believe.

If I can put enough pressure on NJP I think he might just abandon SW Australia instead of digging in. We will see. Also, cruiser taskforce on the way to Perth. Now that fighters are available for CAP I am starting to get more flexibility.

I think you have a good opportunity to lure him into a trap in SW Oz. Although I know that he is going for an autovictory, I think you can deny him if you prevent him from capturing in some places... I think you may have mentioned that he's battling in India already? In Scenario 1, I think you can really hurt his logistics if you want to. I noticed you don't have a rule against strat bombing. What Oil centers has he taken? Can you bomb them? That might make him divert forces away from his conquering efforts.

I hope you are building up your backfield bases to boost your VP total, even if it is only by maybe +12 VPs per base in CONUS. Those white-restricted engineers don't have anything better to do... use 'em. Perth is a nice shiny VP prize for him, and I don't think you can realistically get him out of there with what you have on hand. However, the terrain down there is almost all in the clear. Where are your B-17s that start in CONUS? In a handful of days you can transfer them all to Australia and bomb his troops like crazy. Even with DBB flak, B-17s don't care about it that much. It's an awful long ways from Asia to Perth, and bombing him daily is going to suck up his supply. It'll burn yours as well, but you should be shipping plenty in to Sydney...

Neither of us have been using our air forces much. I just moved some dive bombers to perth (the army ones) and have hit him a few times but he put up LRCAP and the got dinged so they are stood down ATM. I will have to look where I can send the bombers from. With DBB the aviation support is reduced. Within a month I will be getting over 200 AV in Aussie so that will slow him down. He has 680 + AV in SW Australia I have almost 500 at perth and 600 on the way. It is not enough to completely take him out but I am still worried he will assault the east side of Australia where the real VP's are.

In India he has taken a few bases on the continent but I have 800AV at Madras, 600AV at Bombay, 500AV at Calcutta (with 500 on the way) and 450 AV at Karachi. I know that individually he can take any one of them but he cannot hold it while taking another and the reason 800AV is hanging out in Madras is that a division of reinforcements 180AV is going to show up in 6 days. Once that happens I dont really care about Madras and can use that 800AV to bolster either of the 3 other cities in India or just simply re-take things as he is taking them.

He was counting on the 100K fuel plus nearly 100K supply at Columbo but I have cheated him out of that bounty so he is going to have to sail back to Palembang for his gas supply.

I am not sure if he is really trying for AV or just trying to expand as far as possible to delay the inevitable. Considering he has not gotten any major points off of troops, planes or ships yet, an AV is unlikely at this point.

My hope is to start cutting sections of his forces and killing them. No LCU's no more worries.

Also, my carrier forces yet remain undetected and I am sure that it bothers him every single turn!

The IJN really does have a glass jaw. If you can catch them operating far from home, you can sink some ships.

Just read your post in the War Room. It sounds like he's going deep early and backfilling later. You may be able to leave some nasty surprises on the backfilling portion, if you're able to sneak by some stuff. Or you can make him pay if he doesn't backfill soon enough by cutting right in with a one-two punch: hit whatever is impeding your SLOC to a place he neglected to take, then get in there (the deeper place) right away with reinforcements and build it up.
