After not using Tracker for many, many months I'm trying to get it going again for both PBEM games as Allies. I remembered the trouble with newer versions of Java, so I'm still at 6 version 29.

Image

You probably need to put the full path to java in there. For example, "C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin"
Delete the trackerdb.* files.
Copy the pwsdll.dll file from the game folder to the WitPTracker folder.
Try running the WitPTracker.bat again.

I am getting the same error as John B. in post 4600 I am really frustrated, have never been able to get tracker to work.

I am starting a new game as the Japanese and really need it however.

This is a completely clean install on a completely clean computer.

I installed the game and upgraded to version 1.7.11.23 V Dec 23 2013

I installed the extended map and the DBB-C scenario for December 7th which is Scenario 28

I ran the game and saved the first turn just as it started in slot 009.

I set up the properties file as directed and changed the save game slot to 009.

When the error showed up I read around and apparently there was some issue with the pwsdll.dll file. I went to the Beta 2 file under the War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition and copied the DLL file and pasted it into the WITP Tracker AE RElease 1.9.2 folder.

But when I try to run the game I get the same error.

I am sure that I am doing something wrong...

Remove the trackerdb files (all of them). Restart witptracker. If there are still errors, send them to me at witptracker @ gmail.com.
Delete the trackerdb.* files.
Copy the pwsdll.dll file from the game folder to the WitPTracker folder.
Try running the WitPTracker.bat again.

Finally got Tracker working but could use some tips from experienced users on how best to use it. I've currently got turn 9 loaded from the CG. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm trying to track down what might be a database issue.

Some time ago, I got the following error message when loading a turn in Tracker:
Can't find device 1122.
Can't find device 1165.

These device numbers, in scenario 1, correspond to USA Mech Cav Squad (1122) and M8 Armored Car (1165).

I checked a couple of my LCUs that might have these. I found one that has the M8 in its TOE, but instead it has "Lt Armored Car".

This error wasn't around at the beginning of the game, and the game itself gives me no errors.

Any help?

That's in some code I added for the Turn loading sequence related to updating the armament pool information. It's when there are devices in the pool, but it wasn't in any device initially read in when the database was started.
Could there have been a scenario change mid-game?

There shouldn't have been? I only get the error on my home computer. When I load turns at work, I don't get it. I've tried copying the scenario files from the SCEN directory of my other Scen 1 game, but it persists. So...something with the save file? I really don't know.

It can't be computer-specific. It happens when a device's pool is non-empty or a device was used from the pool.
Are devices 1122 and 1165 defined in the scenario? The devices become available in 12/42 according to Scenario 2.
Delete the trackerdb.* files.
Copy the pwsdll.dll file from the game folder to the WitPTracker folder.

Well, that's why I find it so strange. At work, I load up on a Win7 64-bit machine now so there's no OS or different in Java. And at work, I don't get this message. At home I do. The game is a Scen 1 game, but I assume that it's the same availability date. So I don't need to worry about it quite yet...

Perhaps re-applying Andy's database changes might fix something. I'll post here again if I can't fix it by messing around with it that way.

FWIW, in my game with Bullwinkle I can look up the device in the Devices data set in Tracker. In the game where this happens, there are no devices for 1122 and 1165. So it's like Tracker is trying to read information for 1122 and 1165 but can't find the information in the SCEN files?

OK, so I googled around and apparently you can't have both x86 and 64 version at the same time. Who knew...

So, I uninstalled 64 version and now I'm getting "Java is not recognized...". Now what?

Is "java" in your PATH? If not, put the explicit path in the WitPTracker.bat file.
Delete the trackerdb.* files.
Copy the pwsdll.dll file from the game folder to the WitPTracker folder.
Try running the WitPTracker.bat again.

Ken

That's a pretty open-ended question, as everyone has a different idea of how best to use it. Depends partly on whether you're playing the Allies or Japan, PBEM or against the AI, how good you are at (a) remembering things or (b) taking notes, and so on.

Send me a private message (PM) and I'll give you my take on it. The answer will be long, so I don't want to clutter the forum with it (if it turns out to be really useful then maybe it'll be worth posting it later). In terms of game experience I'm much closer to a rookie than an expert, so I'm thinking I might be able to relate pretty well to any specific issues you have.

Is there some fix for this? All of my USN ships are listed as arriving at San Francisco.
