SP:WaW and Direct X 7

Post by Don Eddins »

I see that the BIG download includes DirectX 7. Does this mean that SP:WaW requires DirectX 7? Or will it work with DirectX 6 as well? I ask because some of us have had trouble with DirectX 7 and some other games, notably EF II. If I have to give EF up to get SP:WaW, I will, but I rather not.

Hey Don,
Have you gone to the Microsoft webpage and downloaded the latest patch for DX7? There is a new version DX7.0a out now and it corrects many of the bugs we all saw with the Talonsoft games and some of the others. Hope it helps you out?

Hello...

The executable is being programmed using the Direct X 6.1 library. It is being tested on the programmers computer, using Direct X 7.0. Either of these should work, fine.

Thanks for Your Interest...

Paul, Mike, and 8Ball ...

Thank you all for your helpful responses. I have found the tone of this board to be very friendly and collegial, much like the Talonsoft board used to be. I've missed that and am very glad to have found it here. Best of luck to all of you at Matrix Games and thanks in advance for what looks to be shaping up as the best gaming experience we historically oriented gamers have had in years.

Thanks Don. We are gamers and we love the game and those who play. Our whole motivation is to be positive and try to help those who enjoy the hobby as we do.

You'll find us to be a friendly approachable bunch of guys.

If we can help, we will. We don't like flame wars, although we have had a few.

DirectX issue has already been answered by those in the know. If we can be of any further help, we are ready to do so.
