Parallels - Steel Beasts and FC:RS - Pied Piper

The new Cold War turned hot wargame from On Target Simulations, now expanded with the Player's Edition! Choose the NATO or Soviet forces in one of many scenarios or two linked campaigns. No effort was spared to model modern warfare realistically, including armor, infantry, helicopters, air support, artillery, electronic warfare, chemical and nuclear weapons. An innovative new asynchronous turn order means that OODA loops and various effects on C3 are accurately modeled as never before.

Parallels - Steel Beasts and FC:RS - Pied Piper

Post by smithcorp »

Thought you might be interested - I am a regular Steel Beasts player (which got me interested in Flashpoint Campaigns) and last night the virtual unit I am in tested a scenario on a map just to the west of Hameln, and including the western part of the town and the Weser Bridges that are fought over in Pied Piper.

In fact for the NATO forces - Brits with Challengers, Warriors and Scimitars, one of the Weser bridges was the main objective.

Here's a couple of screens from the AAR showing the map and the Weser bridges - pretty cool to fight in in an area I'd just finished smashing up in Red Storm!

I see you are already on v.3.0 (I have yet to upgrade my 2.654). Is it a single or multiplayer scenario?, it looks interesting.

Panta, I got v3.0, going to have to talk about SBProPE [:D] I wish that there was pixle troopers showing in the hatch of the tanks, APC, IFV and so on.

Multiplayer, Panta. I'm in BG ANZAC, which is a VU mostly made up of current or ex-armour officers. This was testing a scenario a member (Panzer Leader) made.

Well there isn't any TC showing. The hatches are empty.

Multiplayer is great, I used to meet with a group of US players and am planning to start over. The problem is that I am precisely in the worst possible meridian, UTM -2, thus when it is the right time for the other chaps, it is too early or too late for me...But it was great fun, I even made a few scenarios they still are at the SBP page) and we tested them.

I too play Steel Beasts regularly and agree that these two games FPRS and SBPE actually compliment each other. The only thing different from you guys is that I belong to a VU which plays the Soviet side.

You don't have yet too many OPFOR drivable vehicles, do you?

Not as much as the western vehicles but we are getting there. Playable or crewable OPFOR vehicles include BDRM-2, BTR-80, T-72M, T-72M1 and T-62. Without the fancy optics it makes for some interesting fights.
