Look what I found (Hospital unit)

Civil War 2 is the definitive grand strategy game of the period. It is a turn based regional game with an emphasis on playability and historical accuracy. It is built on the renowned AGE game engine, with a modern and intuitive interface that makes it easy to learn yet hard to master.
This historical operational strategy game with a simultaneous turn-based engine (WEGO system) that places players at the head of the USA or CSA during the American Civil War (1861-1865).

Look what I found (Hospital unit)

Post by TulliusDetritus »

Now this is weird. I will assume this is WAD, not a bug. I am pretty certain the manual does not mention this.

Alright then.

McClellan's Corps does not have a hospital unit. On the same hex Whipple's Corps has got one. Sooooo... I transfer this hospital unit to McClellan's horde and... the CV goes from 2116 to 1985! A CV loss of 131 that is.

I tried the same with the other Corps (almost everyone has got a hospital unit). I detach then reattach. NO loss.

But I kept investigating. I noticed that McClellan's corps was the ONLY corps where cohesion was in general below 100% (I mean the divisions). All the other Corps (with a hospital unit) had 100% cohesion.

Soooo, my conclusion has to be (if this is not a bug): when you bring the hospital unit the wounded, sick etc. (low cohesion is an abstraction of this) leave the front and are sent to the field hospital.

I suppose this explains the loss of CV.

You can try to do the same and see if that works for you.

We can try to role play and imagine wounded soldiers are sent to the hospital,...

But this is what happens. Hospital increases maximum cohesion and cohesion recovery speed. When you transferd hospital to Mac, his maximum cohesion went up. The Pwr is an abstraction. It calculates current cohesion/ maximum cohesion values. That ratio took a hit when you increased maximum cohesion in the Mac stack. But do not worry, with the bonus to cohesion recovery speed you'll get over this bump rather quickly.

When I think about my explanation, the wounded going to the hospital is much better. You feel like you managing troops, not numbers and pixels[:D]

Did you put McClellan's stack beyond its command limits? Displayed CV will drop if you are over the command limits of the stack.
