Buzzard VS Gary WC3

Post by Gary Tatro »

Well folk here it is the second match up with the second WC finalist from 2002. Buzzard either is very good or very folish. From the sounds of JJ wining in the other thread Buzzard certainly knows how to pick his maps and his years. And this strategy holds true also.
Situation breifing
November 1942.
German and USA meeting engagment in the Desert.
German deploy position is entirely supperior to the USA's see Hypersnap picture below and they move first but that is ok because we have Rangers.
Through negotiation have eliminated the use shoot and scoot Heavy AA,
but the Germans have TIGERS. Hefty Hefty Hefty TIGERS. :(
The Americans have M4's wimpy wimpy wimpy M4's :D
Visibility is 15 so that will make the TIGERS a little less Hefty but not much.
Points are 5,700, small desert map. All preferences on except C&C and Rarity.
Americans have deployed and waiting for the Kruats to show themselves. Come get some RANGER LOVEIN!!!!

Opening move

Post by Buzzard45 »

Hefty Hefty HEFTY Tigers. Are all in hiding.

Gary was nice enough to place his smoke right where I wanted it.

Funny map though. Great picture, but funny map. The start lines are SOO close together. I don't know if I like it. Its good to get the high ground but how about some breathing room. I am NOT used to these night games.

Gary has the first blood. A 3in M5 AT took out a scout vehicle. It should not have been doing the Kubelvagon shuffle so close.

Bring on those M10's and M15's leave the Wimpy wimpy wimpy M4's behind for home security. Rangers? they got HE with their Bazookas, right?

Smoke

Post by Gary Tatro »

Why yes I will say that I do like to smoke. But I will also say that it can be hazzardous to your health. Second blood goes to me as well as Buzzard places an AT gun a little to close to the smoke screen. :) One ATG down 15 more to go.

Wow Buzzard

Post by Capt. Pixel »

... just like the new kid on the schoolgrounds. Head for the biggest, baddest kids around and pound them silly.

If it works - you're a hero. If it doesn't work - people think you're crazy and leave you alone anyway. Win-win.

But you forgot to consider M4 Jess, the janitor's playmate. He won't care if you're crazy, he'll still come after you. (again, and again, and again... )

Good luck Buzz, Gary Tatro is a lot meaner than his modest moniker might imply. (Or so I've heard, never personally having had the pleasure. :p )

Turn 2 sees.....

Post by Buzzard45 »

Justa scout. A tough little group that took some heavy fire power to take out.

There won't be any willy-bumps for you this time GaryT.

I am sad about that AT unit. I bought them just for the M15's. He got off 1st shot but it wasn't good enough. At least he got off a shot. In the last game it was turn 12 before I got off 1 OP fire and 1 again in turn 14. I think that I am liking this better already.

:D COME INTO MY SMOKE< MY FRIEND:D

no, don't do it.

Cough! Cough! Cough!

Post by Buzzard45 »

I feel like a Winnipeg Goldeye. That's a boney fish found in our waters that is VERY tasty when it is smoked to bright red color. MMMMM

Somebody get me beer. Please?:D

I lost another Kubelwagon who stuck his nose out too far. Man, there is no second chance with those 3in'ers.

I caught a 2 man recon unit coming closer than he oughta. There are likely a few more, judging by the willy's.

Gary....come into the smoke,.......Gary.... you are getting sleepy...sleeeepy........come into the smoke....

Smok'em if ya got em

Post by Gary Tatro »

Another rather uneventful turn as the Germans continue to get impatiant as I fill the middle hills and in front of the hills with smoke. They are like little mice poking there little heads through the smoke and me as the kat waiting for the mouse to come out of his little hole and pouncing on him.
Score Kats-- 2 kublewagons, a sniper, a AT infantry and a halftrack.
Mice ----nothin. :D :D :D Though they did bomb the hell out of some sand.

Holy Nebelwiffers Batman

Post by Gary Tatro »

Operations first strike has begun. Lost a couple of halftracks and shot up some infantry, ATG's and trucks.
My recon discovered, the hard way, a whole load of tanks all stacked up in the same hex. Bad idea against a USA player. Called in some artillary.
At the end of my turn a round of Nebelwiffers came in and pounded a ATG's postion I guess the mice are sick of the cats. :)

Holy Kursk Batman.

One turn later and I would have been out there with my bums to the wind. That Rocket Prep,(which failed by the way which turned out to be a good thing) was to be my kick-off. The stack you saw, was a massing of tanks and assault vehicles.

One turn earlier and I would have been dispersed. One turn later and I would have faced your counter-attack. :( :) I don't know which is better but that scout sure saved you a world of hurt. That complete stack and one other were all routed.

I had the choice to run and re-prep the hill or take the chance that your attack had run out of steam. I don't think it has. But it will be running with a few less pieces.:)

The next couple of turn will decide the game.

Good luck. and lets have at her.

Taunt me all you like.

Post by Gary Tatro »

I am an equal opportunity taunter. Well folks it is dire straight for good old US of A. Seems we kicked off our assualt straight into the middle of all of Buzzards forces. Which was not a really bad thing, the problem was that he was able to rally them, the bigger problem was that out of the 50 or so opportunity fires I had I did not get one kill, (a kublewagon doesn't count).
Lady Luck has seen fit to turn her back on me. What ever did I do to deserve this I do not know.
So what does an good american do. Call in artillary and what would you know it worked. I trashed a platoon of half tracks a stug and a PzIII in the last two turns with my artillary. I have never in the last two years playing had such luck with my artillary.
So "The Lady" givith and "The Lady" takith away.
Back to you oh eater of rotten meat.

Luck be a Lady tonight!

Post by Buzzard45 »

Taunt? No taunting here, well maybe a little, with the smoke invitations but I sent the taunt to Capt Pixel. He loved it.:) Go figure?

It seems the attack did run out of steam or its re-grouping for another go. That US artillery is a (Wild Bill, its not Sunday) bitch. Did you notice the top hit on the StuG? The PZIII is really a T38, a Czech tank. Same chassis as the HEtzler. Good chassis that! No breakdowns.
I mopped up the hill which left the hulks of 3 Shermans and 2 M10's. The best part was to take out 3 (I think its 3 ) M15's . I hate them things. They hurt. Most of your kills are with those nasty beasts. Nasty, Nasty Beasts. We hates 'em , we do.

But where are the Hefty Hefty Tigers? Still hiding. No need for them yet. Come a little closer in the south. Those M15's will get a shock. (sounds like a taunt to me)
;) ;)

Oh no, I wouldn't taunt you:rolleyes:

Its a good battle GaryT. Anyone's game yet!

Yeah. I'm funny that way. :p (It was my favorite 'taunt', by the way. :D)

JL,

Maybe no one listens because of the Bizzaro-Bart avatar. Could be.

Gerhart Artillery Tatro....Hmmmmm? has quite ring to it.

Say? Have you ever considered changing your name? I was thinking of.... Oh, I don't know? Maybe.. BIZZARO BART?

Where have I heard that before?

CP- I have opened and closed our game 3 or 4 times now. I look at it, and think, and my heart pounds, and my head goes fuzzy, and I just don't know what to do. I had a plan when I started. Now it doesn't seem feasible. Possible, yes but.... Maybe its the willy-bumps IRL. Give me a day or so.. please.
