Constant crash issue...

Post by Matt S »

Hi!
Long time follower of the project, finally decided to take the plunge and pick up a copy last night.
Unfortunately, after I installed, reinstalled the prereqs (.NET 4.5 and the DX files), updated to 1.02 and B488, I tried to fire up the first tutorial. Immediately, I noticed there are two NAS Fallons, and the one to the northwest shows an aircraft wing. When I click on it I get:

Exception: The type initializer for 'System.Windows.Automation.Peers.AutomationPeer' threw an exception. Stack Trace: at System.Windows.Automation.Peers.AutomationPeer.RaiseFocusChangedEventHelper(IInputElement newFocus)0000000000 at System.Windows.Input.KeyboardDevice.ChangeFocus(DependencyObjecy focus, Int32 timestamp

etc.etc.

This happens in every scenario I've tried, including all three tutorials. Quite disappointing :(
I hope you guys can help, thanks!

(edit: apparently I can't post a link so I typed out as much of the code nonsense as I could possibly bear. Please let me know if you need the rest of the message)

Hello,

We're sorry you are facing this problem. This is the first time we are dealing with a problem of this type. Is your system up-to-date (updates installed etc.)? Can you try to reboot your OS and check if this problem persists?

Thanks.

I'll try running Windows Updates while I'm away at work, but largely it's up to date. I thought my lack of UIAutomationCore.dll in Sys32 could be to blame (I had deleted it for compatibility with another program), but I put it back in there and no such luck following a restart. Still the same error

Actually... I think I solved it? I dropped a copy of UIAutomationCore.dll into the install path so the .exe would definitely call it.
Hmm. Oops.
This installation of Windows 7 has seen better days.

I'm having the same problem since updating. It does run up to build 486. After patching files to 488, the game does not start, nor does the program stop attempting to run in the background. the autostart UI will not stop running until I restart the system. Fully patched, up to date, all prereqs are checked and loaded. EXTREMELY frustrating! [:@]

Hmmm - I remember messing with UIAutomationCore.dll to try to make my flightsim installs more stable.

Where should that file go? Matt - what do you mean by 'the install path' ?

Cheers,

Byron

In that case I would recommend a re-install of .NET in order to properly place all necessary libraries on the system. Our design is fairly resilient, but it's not designed to cope with missing OS components [:)]
