Training AARs

The new Cold War turned hot wargame from On Target Simulations, now expanded with the Player's Edition! Choose the NATO or Soviet forces in one of many scenarios or two linked campaigns. No effort was spared to model modern warfare realistically, including armor, infantry, helicopters, air support, artillery, electronic warfare, chemical and nuclear weapons. An innovative new asynchronous turn order means that OODA loops and various effects on C3 are accurately modeled as never before.

Training AARs

Post by HowieWowie »

I went through the tutorial a couple of weeks ago and I must say that it was lacking. I'm very keen on the game however and want to better understand how to work with this gem. I'm wondering if anyone has posted an AAR, or has a Let's Play Video on Youtube that is instructional in nature.

I was also wondering if the manual has been updated to reflect the changes made sine release?

1) Check out the War Room. Other gamers and the Dev Team members have posted their thoughts on how to play the game to your advantage.

2) Play the game! There is no better way to figure things out than to play A Time To Dance a couple of times. That will show you a myriad of lessons. First and foremost is that the AI isn't scripted and plays differently as you do. The game is not hard to learn how to play. It's a bit daunting to learn how to play well. That all comes with experience.

3) If you don't find answers to questions you have, ask away. You will more than likely get several points of view in response.

Hope that helps.

There's a few decent youtube videos I just came across - narrated SP games by Kenneth Maniscalco: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UClPr_V ... UJZ8z4Hm7w

And Herman Hum and I did a (long) narrated PBEM game here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kJ1JDMAxUlQ

I have also put up a couple of AARs over at SimHQ where I have tried to explain my understanding of how the game works. Here:

http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/t ... ost3904826

Not saying I'm any good, but I hope they help you. There's a few more usefull AARs in the After Action Report section of this forum too.

I found the best way to learn the game is to play it. The UI is great and the game is quite intuitive.
