Opinions differ, wildly.

My own preference is for the 2d10 table. The half flipped result is the main reason why; it is less all-or-nothing than the 1d10 table. Also, the results are more likely to be average than the 1d10 table. (Although we all remember the "2" rolled at the wrong time.)

If you do use the 1d10 table, use the blitz option.
I thought I knew how to play this game....

Agree with Courtenay in terms of using the 1d10, then use the blitz option.

From what I have seen, most of the more experienced types use the 2d10 and it is a mixed bag for the rest, but the 2d10 is in the majority.

Personally, I don't like it at all, especially trying to learn the game. The 1d10 table is so much easier to look at and have an idea of what is going to happen. While the 2d10 offers up the possibility of only half the attackers being disrupted, it is also a lot more bloody with the attacker having a chance of losing 3 units if the defender should be in terrain.

I cut my WiF teeth on the 1D6.

My all time favorite was rolling 2 Die for combat. One for the attackers losses and one for the defenders losses. You could get the -/- result. Anyone else remember that option? Its so old i can't even remember the name of it.

I don't think either is "best". More of preference.
With the 2 current choices, I'm more of a 1D10 player.

The people I know in Spain, Germany, Italy, ..., more tan 90% of them like 2D10 better and I agree. And maybe I am getting too moderate in the percentage.

I am speaking of the countries because it seems there are some common festures that `have become more fashionable sometimes in terms of country... maybe in yours the percentages can be very different.

2d10 is the most popular at WiFCon. I prefer 3d10 from the 2008 annual, then 1d10 (with Blitz Bonus) before 2d10. My local group insists that 2d10 is broken, in part due to an automatic (or at least very high) attack on Leningrad one player was able to engineer.

Basically 2d10 is more about bonuses and the odds don't matter much where in 1d10 the odds seem to matter more (but bonuses do matter in 1d10 also!)

The original 2d10 was called "2 die 10" by the way, and 2d10 has a "-/-" result also.

The 2d10 is my preference, mostly because it moderates the impact of luck on the game without removing it. Extremes are much less common, but still happen of course. I will also never again play without fractional odds. Best thing ever, in my opinion.

Agree with Courtney. The 2D10 'averages' out the die roll much more.

Well I'd have to say after my abysmal attacks on Spain last night I'm still leaning to 1D10 myself.

Had a +8 attack and rolled so so.. but even so I lost 2 units to his 1. And since div's were involved the net result was I lost a inf corp and div while he lost a div.. so a nice juicy 3-1 with both units flipped and I lose 8 factors he looses 1 with a roll of a 7?

Oh well the dice gods are fickly [8|]

I like the 1d10 table best and preferably with the blitz option.

Once I hated the 2d10 table but now I simply dislike it.
