What an absolutely Bee-You-Tee-Full day to fly. 66F on the ground, 55F or so at 5k. 5kts from SSW for the 30m breeze, 6-8kt westerlies at 5k. Not a cloud in the sky, but for a puff ball, here and there. I'm in a thin cotton long-sleve over a golf shirt. Stayed mostly around 3k. The Navy guys were out in force and were looping and whirling and playing up around 5k. And, yep, fired up Mr Harley and rode the loooong way down to Barin Field to get my rental plane. Alabama is righteous. Ciao. John
Ok, I'm going to go for an NP. I really don't know how to do this, but I'll try.

Ciao. John
Drat! The little thingy bar led me astray. I'm not a forum NP, or IP, or IMP, kinda person, so I'll just let this pass by and let a Thread guy capture the ring.

Ciao. John
BTW, been talking sidebar to Skyros about meatballs, and tigers and bears, Oh My !! There's some wicked good cooks out there.

Ok, so I advanced the post numerics so that somebody who follows this stuff can claim a "P" thingy. Thank me later.

Ciao John

I'm really gonna have to pick up those books and read them.

You won't be sorry. I got hooked on the books after watching season one myself. They're a slog (over 3500 pages for the first 5 books in the series), but extremely well written and immersive.

Do yourself a favor and don't watch more than season one before you read the books. As a matter of fact, I'd stop shy of finishing season one, lest you get into some plot twists.

I know I'm in a small minority on this, so sue me [:)]

... but I still remember when I bought the first paperback edition of Game of Thrones in 1996, just to see what the hype was about. Managed to slog my way through it, but never felt any immersion. I even bought the second one in the series, but gave up on that one too after some ~60 pages. Never bought another one and those first two have been collecting dust ever since.

With that background, imagine my wonder when they made a TV series of it ... and it apparentely was a hit. Maybe have to give the TV version a look to see if I missed something [;)]

Well, to be correct, it is a UNP, and the failed INP three posts earlier, well, we have all done that at one time or another...

Per, I have seen the first two seasons and they strike me as very well done. I'm sure they convey at least some of the author's flavor in the books. Brutal and engaging are the first two words that come to mind. The show managed to make me care about many of the characters, so the impact is even stronger when things happen to them.

I remember that that was one of the points I didn't like. As soon as I started to get a feeling for some character, he/she usually died a gruesome death shortly thereafter.

It's a good thing they're cute. Lest we tie them up and leave them in the cold.

Where you the dude in N Dakota that got arrested for clearing his driveway with a blow torch? He said he “fed up with battling the elements” and that he did not possess the willpower necessary to move “four billion tons of white bull shit.”
