The other attack on the US forces also fails. The turn ends, as does 1943.
Here are the losses for the turn.
HMS Formidable was sunk in a port attack at Portsmouth.

The Commonwealth production is nothing short of catastrophic - reduced convoy routes combined with a devastating series of strategic bombing raids reduces them to just 7 production points!

Global control at the start of 1944.
The USSR is doomed and is going to be extremely lucky to survive the year. The Allies do not have sufficient force in place to challenge the German forces in the west. Its going to be a tough year for them.

England copped it again in Jan/Feb 1944. Despite plenty of defenders the bombers still got through.

There were more bombing raids on other cities, with the Germans losing some FW-190s. The turn ended early.

With summer just around the corner, the Germans are closing in on Omsk. Novosibirsk, set to be the Soviets' last stand, is just over the horizon. It looks impossible for the Russians to survive two turns and several impulses of clear weather.

One of those things that you don't get around to until there's not so much to do.
Mannerheim finally takes Archangelsk.

After everyone had moved their ships there were a lot of potential naval battles looming. The biggest potential battle was in the Solomons.
As is usual, however, neither side finds the other, yet again.

They choose a surface battle, and sink the York and Exeter while the British convoys sneak away into the typically lousy Atlantic weather.

In Central Russia, the Soviets retreat as the Allies pass in an attempt to avoid further disastrous bombing raids.

The pass attempt succeeds, and the turn ends. Now that I think about it, Langley was sunk at the same time as York & Exeter (all protecting the convoys in the zero box)
