It's up to every customer to decide if he pays or not. And it is for Matrix to decide at what price they are willing to sell. Simple as that; everyone is free to sell or buy at whatever price is offered. Oh come on, decide for yourself if the price is right or not.[8D]

The price of Matrix released games will always be discussed.
Always! its a sport, a hobby, a pet peeve, Don Quixote fighting the windmills, u name it...

It doesn't matter how many valid and rich information (after release), or limited 'officially leaked' information (any time before the release) is available to the public.
There is no educated discussion , the price is fixed! and it stays fixed! (for an unknown duration of time) whatever argumentation may or may not surface in the unavoidable game-price thread. And some people will be unhappy ...as their way of life.

The benefit of announcing the price or 'the price range' as early as possible, is that customers on the fence and a small budget may decide to postpone the purchase of a different non-Matrix-title and save up for that Matrix offer, and may even be able to resist an impulsive buy of a different game (running on whatever device, including the cardboard) that they stumble upon while they wait.
and generally can plan ahead their spending budget ...and save a little on 'fags, shots 'n hookers'[;)]

My main point was this...

The "price" debate has all but disappeared from the World in Flames forum. It's petered out. Gone. Now the forum "appears" to be people who simply want to report bugs and try and play. How nice for the developer that his forum is a nirvana now.

And I can't help but think that every release could (for the most part) be that. A peaceful place for the developer to see people discussing his game. It must be an awful shame for him to see so much hatred on release day.

Of course, adding fuel to the fire never helps - and even if one post showed up on release day, then people speaking out of turn would simply inflame the situation.

But I can't help but think knowing the price of a game beforehand (along with content of course, AI, scenarios, sandbox, editor, campaigns etc) would allow such discussions to peter out.

But - Erik says they've tried it and it didn't work.

So that's that. We'll just wait on the shit storm on release day. People saying the price is ridiculous, other people saying if they can't afford it get a decent job and so on and so forth.

I'll guess $50 for download because that's the max reasonable price IMO. Hope it's less. Wouldn't be surprised it it's more. Or even a lot more.

Well $40 USD used to be the "standard" for a good PC game, but that crept up considerably to > $100 USD titles being released.

I was thinking they'd aim more for the $80 USD range.

Conflict of Heroes is/was $39.99. I don't see this game as any different than CoH. It's a boardgame made into a PC game.

I sure hope it's not more than $39.99. $49.99 max. Any more and it is just ridiculous, and I would like a good explanation of why from Matrix Games.

Yes, we still have the Cornfest. But, it is usually too hot for me to enjoy it during the middle of summer. And, I don't like the crowds. But, we went this year with our three year old daughter, and had a good time.

I really want this game. I hope the price and the quality are right!

I am always amazed at the controversy that the price of a new game brings , If you like the game and can afford it at this time but it. It you like it and it is out of your current budget range , wait till it eventually goes on sale, and buy it, if you don't like it don't buy it !

This is really the plan nowadays since wargames tend to keep their playability and want of play from the gamers. I'm just happy it's released cause that means in 2 years I get it in a christmas sale for $19.95 to $24.95 I can surely wait now that I know it's not squad leader. But I do like the colors and the graphics. I can still drool over it and know it is released finally. I expect a lot of patching between now and 2 years from now as most all games need and get nowadays. . Just not worth the agony of the new games. Like Rome 2 and Rebirth and Diablo III. So both of the games I've been waiting for are finally released. Now what do I have to look forward to? Combat Leader revived? please? yes? [&o]

If Iain would give me that tech job (I live in the US) I could afford to buy newer games. But, being unemployed I have to watch every nickel. I was tech support for AOL back in the late 90's to early 2000's. I could troubleshoot just about anything to do with AOL and how AOL worked with Windows 98. Alas windows 8 I have but I hate it. I'm still using Vista 64 for the most part since I don't have headaches over games that no longer work under Win7 or 8.

Yeah don't you just love how some get bent out of shape over prices? Not me. No sir not me. [:D] I do like those humble bundle type sales though as some people get to live up to their mouths, you know the ones, they say " I'd pay $100 for a game like this" so I say let them and give me the $1 priced game. Those systems seem to be working as they have been around quite awhile now and they show their income. It's amazing how many fo... will donate so much for a game. I guess I'm more frugal than some and I'm glad. But there are some real generous people out there willing to donate ridiculous amounts for a game and game system they love. Those donate sites prove it.

I agree totally. Don't complain when the game is released just because of price. I know 40 bucks is a bit high, but I will talk my wife into letting me buy it [:)]. It will go on sale eventually if you cannot afford it now, so wait - there will be another Christmas sale at the end of the year

I like the price. These folks have to earn a living. Bottom line this is a hobby, hobbies can be expensive, its not food, shelter and clothing its what we spend our disposable income on. There are cheaper hobbies. - But once you buy a game you have it forever, to me that's bang for the buck.[;)]

Here's my cut on the price... dinner and movies for two costs about the same as the game. Dinner and the movies usually consists of an hour of boring conversation about something stupid like politics, followed by an equally stupid movie like Lone Survivor. So, it's 55$ for three hours of mind-numbing stupidity. On the other hand HoS is 55$ for well over 150 hours of mind-blasting awesomeness. 'nuf said.[;)]

This is the pricing for our Collector's Editions, which include the full color printed manual. The majority of the $15 is for the 120 page color printed manual rather than the printed box and DVD.

How about just a Direct download version and with printed manual version and price? [:D] You can keep the cd and box I don't need those but I'd like to see savings on if you just buy the DL version and then a physical manual??
