Turn 55, 2th July 1942

SHC sends massive reinforcement to reopen the pocket and block my advance but I keep my momentum

Image

Heavy fights! Losses are unsustainable on a long term

Image

And the OOB, russians are just below 6.8M men

Turn 56, 9th july 1942

Another turn of heavy fights. Pockets were reopened by frogmarc. I try the ecirclement of all russians units South of the Oka river

Turn 57, 16th july 1942

Frogmarc managed to reopen the main Pocket and isolate my spearheads...

Image

... but the southern units are now isolated: time to harvest

Image

Effect on the OOB is immediate

Image

And of course, I firmly close the northern Pocket

a lot of juicy targets... IF he don't retreat you may grab the rest of his strong corps as well.
very interesting situation, he might be in panic now of loosing Moscow.

Turn 59, 30 juillet 1942

Pocket cleared! I ignore Moscow and drive east. My objective is the destruction of the red army and Moscow is a strong nut at the moment.

Image

Russian OOB declines sharply due to the multiple encirclements

Image

But as I drive hard, my pools are very low!

He withdraws units west of Moscow to defend the Oka line

As shown above, I prefer keeping my momentum instead of attacking frontally Moscow

Yeah, I would have done the same, of course :-)
Happy hunting!

(btw, looking at the CVs getting 'all-in' is the only way... vorwarts, marsch-marsch :-) )

I'm 4 turns ahead of the AAR and all-in is exciting but exhausting and you never know if you won't fall in a death trap!

great, another update! [:)]

this IS really exciting stuff, you know [&o]

This multiple pockets went better then I have hoped, remarkably well executed - I doubt if there are any good moves for him left instead of just running...

Sometimes, it's better to give ground...

Turn 61, 13th august 1942

Collapse of russian center front!!! Several new pockets!

It will be hard for the red army to restore a continuous front without giving ground

Turn 62, 20th august 1942

I keep on advancing and try to create new pockets.

Image

But I divide my Pzd/Mot strength... I think it's a mistake. It's dangerous for my momentum.

I'm always surprised with the ability of the soviet player to rebuild a continuous front!

... but you put him under enormous pressure - it's not only another half million gone, no, but all his carefully nursed Guards and Corps.

You're right. [:)]

Trading experienced Guards with 60+ morale against rifle divs with 40 morale isn't a good deal.
