Scenarios - Historical?

Post by Gerry4321 »

Hello All:

Wondering if the Stalingrad scenarios are based on history or more general? For example are there scenarios set in well-known parts of Stalingrad like Red October or Red Barricades factories? If yes, are these just in the campaign or the standalone scenarios?

Thanks in advance,

Gerry

Well that's the beauty of tactical scale wargames, a scenario doesn't have to be "historically accurate". It can easily fit into any timeframe where the equipment was available.
What I mean is you can build a winter scenario with Guards and/or SS and say "This is Stalingrad", or "this is during Bagration". In order to make them historically accurate for this game scale all you have to do is change a panzer from a Pzkw III to a Tiger.

I understand. However, are some of the maps created to look like parts of Stalingrad or are they just general city maps?

Thanks,

Many games have scenarios that are based on actual historical events. I believe that Gerry was asking if the scenarios that come with the game would be considered to be in that category.

Yes, MR is correct. This is what I am curious about.

Some of the campaign scenarios are in a Tractor Factory and some on a big hill called Murmayev. Both of those locations are pretty historical. As far as the geographical accuracy of the actual art, I suppose the artists know best about that!

I just found the line of Fire magazine on the LnL site. In the scenarios I see in there there is an historical introduction plus the scenario lists the regiments the units come from. I find that stuff very immersive. Wondering if the HoS scenarios have this kind of material in them?

Thanks,
