Flanking

Post by midgard30 »

How do we know that we flanked an enemy unit?

In the book, rule said: whenever a target receives fire utilizing the DFT from two non-adjacent hexsides, the second and all subsequent fire, receive a +1 DRM (Dice roll modifier).

I did that a couple of time but never saw that DRM in the stat.

Thanks

I have seen it in the post-firing results screen (showing the modifiers, etc.).

That said, it would be nice if there was some sort of graphical notation of the hex sides that have been fired through.

It would be nice if the pre-firing overlay listed all the modifiers at work (flanking fire included) rather than just a percentage. I would think this would be especially helpful to people learning the system for the first time.

I finally could get the flanking bonus (I probably never noticed it before). But in the "In the Beginning" scenario, German squads in D3 are out of range of Russian squads in K6, K7, K8, except for their SW which has a range of 9. When I used these squads for a second attack on target in K6, I didn't get the flanking bonus. If only support weapons are used in an attack, does it cancel the bonus? Is there other rules not stated in the book that may cancel/activate it?

Thanks

Another question: if first attack has no effect, does the second get the bonus? (DFT fire means it's a hit?) That could explain other situations where I expected to get the bonus.
