RE: Selection Issues

Here's a guess why we might be seeing and playtesting didn't. I flip in and out of the application occasional (alt-tab). I bet playtesters were too focused on game to do this much. maybe the program reacts oddly to mouse clicks on occasion after that.
I just ran into to it again, reloading wouldn't fix. Had to quit and reload.

You might be right. I did a lot of alt-tab while playing. I've just finish playing a couple of scenarios without doing it and no selection bug occurred.

I alt-tab all the time and was gonna say, 'naw I doubt it'.

But, I thought about it and realize that I don't really alt-tab for LONG, usually just long enough to scribble something down, and it occurs to me that perhaps if you are alt-tabbed out for long enough for the music to end its song and start a new one, that might cause a problem. So I've made a change so that it won't try to start a new sound when tabbed-out. Can't hurt, anyway.

I've made some other changes to help narrow it down as well, these would be in 1.04 or later. I'm not sure how the updating process is going to work yet, but that is the number to keep an eye out for for fixes on this bug.

I never alt tab - have same bug.

I dont think it occurs if just selecting a stack. I think its after a command - move/fire is given but cancelled. Such as checking out movement points. Then all units in stack become unclickable. Clicking on them does nothing.
Only the whole stack can now move or fire.

Anyway I've had it plenty. Sure it will crop up again.

Cancelled how? Esc when the path is up, or click on some other hex, or what? Also not sure how you could cancel firing. But any info is appreciated.

I've had the same issue. No Alt-Tab. I was able to fire a unit from hex E2, but after that I am unable to select an individual unit.

Greetings, selection people. If one (or more) of you have a facility with zip files and don't mind trying out potential fix(es), email me at tomp@matrixgames.com and I will send you a new exe to try out.

This is for people who:

1. Come to a new impulse.
2. Maybe click on a few stacks or not, but don't actually do anything like move or fire.
3. Find they cannot deselect units by clicking on them.

This will be a pre-1.04 version, and you would not be able to play online with people with different versions, which is inconvenient but unavoidable. But we want the game to be perfect.

We have our first CLUE from wesy.

If you select an action with a red button - Spot is a common one - then up come the arrows on the side box for you to select a unit... at that point if you then select another hex, it appears to let you. It should not let you do that. I will make that impossible in a few moments, but don't do that.

Additionally, if you click Unselect All, it gets trapped in this state. So don't do that. If you click a red button and then decide you don't want to do the thing after all, select a unit then press Cancel, and you will be fine.

I apologize for this oversight - unfortunately we've played the game for so long we kinda always know what we want to do while playing it. [:(]

Hi Tom - just sent you an email - that build is causing some other performance related issues.

Yes, you got it! I did your steps and could reproduced the bug. Do you still need people to test v1.04?

I think it's fixed for 1.04, the mystery was just getting it to happen in the first place. [:)]
