A Sunday Drive Question

Post by Frido1207 »

I played the "A Sunday Drive" scenario twice as the Soviets.
In both cases I was lucky enough to destroy the single Opel transport which is displayed on the map at the beginning of the scenario.
Immediately after the first turn was finished, the victory screen was displayed.
Based on the scenario description, I thought this scenario could be played from both sides. Did I get this wrong?

Yep, it should be played from the German side. Only one of the trucks begins on the map. The others arrive as reinforcements. A good rule of thumb is to play the side to which the computer defaults.

Thanks for your quick reply.

The problem I encountered while playing as the Soviets was, that the reinforcement trucks never arrived, because the game displayed the victory screen after turn one was finished (in which I eliminated the one truck that begins on the map).

This problem happens when played from the German side as well.

When playing as the Germans, if the first truck is destroyed the scenario ends as a partisan victory. No other trucks have a chance to enter the game.
Also if the Partisans get first impulse, the player (Germans) is screwed because the first shot is at the only truck on the map.
Maybe the Impulse should be set to Germans first for this scenario.

I bet it's that change we made a little while back to auto-end the scenario when you run out of the # of vehicles you need to exit. Not checking pending reinforcements or something like that. Should be an easy fix.
