Map Editor
One thing is not clear to me.When i go on the map editor(F1)i'm able to change the ex,for example from clear to building ,but the graphic tile don't change, remain clear terrain.
Clarification:This happen with all the kind of terrain.
Is normal or there is something wrong?Something that i do wrong?
Other thing:In which way is possible to set up the dimension of the map?

RE: Map Editor
The settings under F1 just tell the program what is on the map. The maps are graphic files. There are lots located in the /art/maps folder. OR you can try to draw your own.
Not sure what you mean by "set up the dimension of the map"... If you mean make large maps then you need to hit the "Tab" key and go to the Map Info. In there you can add up to 9 map sections to map your map.

I mean the size.I have my mind focused on the John Tiller Campaign series and, probably, this is my error. Not sure what you mean by "set up the dimension of the map"... At first the the use of the Tab key is a news for me(thank you).
When i start with the editor in F1,my screen show a already done map.If i try to change one ex from clear terrain to other, the terrain change but the graphic file remain the same.In which way i can change the graphic file to match the terrain?
With my searching into the folder I have only seen complete maps and not ex tiles but is possible that my search was not complete.there are lots located in the /art/maps folder. OR you can try to draw your own.
Anyway thank you ,until now ,for the explanation.

RE: Map Editor
You can only change the whole map sections at once. There is no pacing separate hexes of different types.

Sorry if i'm hard with the brain, but this mean that i take an existing map ,than i change all the hexagons and after saving all the work i find the graphic changed? You can only change the whole map sections at once.
If not so ,i have again understood nothing or better i have not understood the utility of the map editor excluding the possibility to add overlay on an existing map.
Is not(because i have understood nothing)that the graphic must be done by myself after editing the map?

It's not you, it's my explanations. Let try this:
You cannot change the LOOK of the map with the HoS editor. You need to use a graphics program to do that.
The HoS editor just tells the HoS program how to interpret the map art.

OK,is like i wrote in the last phrase. Now is clear,i can prepare the "background" of the map but i must paint the graphic map to overlay it.Luckily i have some skill with graphic program but for others people could be a problem.
When i find time,i think to become a map producer(if what i have in mind is correct).
Could you inform me about the size in pixel of one hexagon used in the game. This could be useful to avoid incorrect graphic on some type of terrain.

RE: Map Editor
Sorry Barthheart, but i'm one using Windows XP.So the question, already done under the 1,04 patch argument,is:If i apply the newest patch, suffer i the problem of the game that not start from the presentation screen?
I ask because was so during the testing period.Any news on the game was not playable for me.

I look forward to seeing some of your maps!
I don't know the pixel size but you could use the maps that came with the program to find out.

That I don't know. Maybe Tom can answer that question.

RE: Map Editor
There was a bug fixed in 1.02 with it staying at the intro screen forever for some people. I can't say that it was the exact same bug, but it seems likely.
Hex sizes in pixels - what the game knows is how from it is from the center of a hex to the center of another hex, going on straight X/Y lines, so these are those distances:
X: 137.8 (note that this is to the center of an offset hex, which is up/down the Offset Y distance)
Y: 154.9
Offset Y: 77.0
Yes, fractions. It's what made the hex mapping to the map graphics look right. So, uh, good luck!

RE: Map Editor
Thank you Tom but i read at the end of the guide that the next topic is "custom map, modifyng unit data and adding new units.
Since i want to experiment the possibility to do custom maps and scenarios,is not better for me to wait this new topics?
I'm studying but is again obscure in wich way can be linked the grapich map with the pollygon map.
Is not possible to have tiles to use in the construction of a custom map?Tiles for woods, wood building stone building and so on.
In this way became more easy to do a custom map.Obviously I must work with some graphic program.
I like this game and the possibility to work on it is for me an added value.
