Maps and Campaign

A few questions

Will the maps be larger in this or about the same size in hexes as SP1 and 2?

Will you be including more stats and maybe medels in this game?

We wanted all those things for this first edition, Drake, but time just would not allow us to put in everything we desired. We do hope for a patch later this summer to address maps size, unit amounts.

Be aware that such changes are memory hogs and you'll need even more memory should these features be included. We pay a price for those extras we want, don't we?

Lordy, I want it all! Actually I find a dichotomy between force size and map size. I enjoy the larger force size (unit count) in SPWWII vs. SP1 but I find that this then clogs up the map with units everywhere and doesn't allow for maneuver. In real blitzkrieg tactics, a mobile force would get into the enemy's rear area to wreak havoc and isolate the front line combat units in order to weaken them for later mopping up by less mobile forces. It is preferred to bypass enemy forces while inserting the mobile force into their rear area (e.g. WWI strosstruppen who infiltrated through the trenches quickly or airborne/assault tactics) vs. deliberate assault tactics. When necessary, a deliberate armor on armor battle can be engaged but only to break through on a narrow front in order to allow the mobile force to then fan out in the enemy's rear area and fight a mobile battle. In SP1, I can find a lot of unused map space to maneuver around the enemy's flanks and into his rear area. In SPWWII, the higher unit count allows both sides to cover the entire front line in depth. I find it necessary to fight a set piece armor on armor battle in each engagement regardless of the type (delay, advance, assault). While I would expect to find a contiguous defense in an assault scenario and possibly in a delay, I don't in an advance or meeting engagement.

Now, I don't want to give up the larger forces so give me a larger map! Please.

What are the current limitations on map size & unit count in SP:WAW ? Are they the same as SP3 (which I don't know either) ?
