Yeah, I just don't know. There seem to be lots of times when a bombardment does little damage, but few times when it does great damage. I could be wrong but I can't think of a time where I knew that there were high forts on the side that got blasted.

2 options
1: 2-3 days air&ground bombardment, and DA after.
2: Non-agressive option - bring everything You have at Naha to Gunzan and DA ( I know it can last 15 days or more). Till that happen - bombard all the time.

How about the low level of allied losses? No forts and he actually have more (and obviously bigger) guns then me. Supply limiting counter battery fire?
Is counter-battery as effective as actually launching a bombardment attack?

RE: Battle for Korea
Don´t know but I took some wicked losses when bombarding at Masan earlier before I let the troops dig in!

RE: Battle for Korea
Given those results & the possibility that his supply situation is poor - this may be a great time to attack with those tanks of yours and really put the hurting on that stack. If you hit them with some air first, all the better.

I did pull the trigger for next turn...fingers crossed. 4Es have refused to fly for 3 days straight now. Hopefully the take off this turn. If worst things come to show I can always fall back to the level 6 forts at Moppo and make a stand there.

RE: Battle for Korea
It was bloody but we got this in control! [:)]
Short update before bed.
Losses are spread evenly with most IDs having 20-40 disabled squads. But the best new is the armor is almost completely intact. 2-3 Tanks disabled in each units. Disruption and FAT very low and only 10-20. 95% of the disabled vehicles are motorized support. This had the unfortunate consequence of bumping support into red though. I´ll start moving up some more from Moppo. Tanks will need to rest 2 days and then they will attack on their own. NO FORTS! Christmas! [:)]

RE: Battle for Korea
NO FORTS! Well, that explains the bombardment results - the next attack is going to hurt him...I don't think he has anything there (by that list) that can do your tanks any real damage.

Lots of action these two days. Obviously the main action was here. This bombardment on the 14th:
Triggered the attack on the 15th.
As mentioned earlier my troops are in pretty good shape. The IDs are heavy on DIS and FAT but the armor is almost untouched. 1-2 days of rest and I can get the armor attacking again. In the meantime the IDs will have to suck it up and provide bombardments.
This is obviously a very positive result for me. I´m going to shift some artillery from the Masan stack to Gunzan and more reinforcements will come from Naha. Mostly Artillery and more armor but I also decided to bring in the US reserve stationed there. This is the breakthrough I been waiting for. Quite annoyingly the 4Es refused to fly for the 4th day in a row! [:@]
Erik also tried another bombardment of Moppo on the 15th. The newly built forts seems to have a really good effect.
I don´t know why he is keeping up with these bombardment now. As I don´t have any planes stationed at Moppo they serve no purpose. 3 "E" where sunk by mines and PTs. Some 10 PTs lost.

Good and bad news in China!

China
------------------------
On the 14th we have a really good day winning several ground battles here. First iof all we finally secure Tsuyung with heavy Japanese losses.
We also managed to secure Changteh.
The previously evicted defenders of Chihkiang are destroyed in an attack across the river.
The bad news is that I try to start decimating the Canton/HK stack. Ouch!
Ouch, ouch and ouch. There is a real danger Erik will try and counter attack here tomorrow. Could be dicey if he does. I´m down to 1100 AV. Level 2 forts though. The 2Es will visit the stack tomorrow in case he goes for it.
I underestimated how much fight this stack had left. They have suffered 400-600 casualties per day for 3 weeks now and have been completely cut off for the same amount of time. I´m going to have to send reinforcement here if I´m to remove this stack. Ouch.
------------------------
Home Island
------------------------
After 3 days of humiliation over Kagoshima we finally get the upper hand on the 15th. This Sweep saw the combat debut of the Corsair 4. Its a really nice plane with a 446MPH top speed. Sadly the replacement rate is dropped from 158 to 115 which sucks. [:(] Hopefully the better plane can make up for fewer numbers.
When the dust settles we have shot down 97 Japanese planes for only 25 of our own. Excellent day! [&o]

Strategic Bombing
------------------------
The B29s take off for factories around the HI knocking out a completely unguarded Frank plant at Utsonomiya. The rest go for the Dinah NF plant and Sam factory at Tsu. Results are good but not stellar.

Are you going to hit the Gunzan stack with some 4E admonishment? Out in the open with no forts....Maybe also hit the airfields to deny him a chance at making forts.....

You probably thought of this, but your boys at Gunzan could probably use more HQs and US Army base forces with their 200 support. If you can beat that uber-stack you'll be in clover. Also, if your 4Es don't hit him there, could it be he has the base LRCAP'd?

Already moving up the SOPAC HQ from Moppo. [:)] Should arrive in a week or so. He could have LRCAP of course but I have loads of sweeps set and even 200 P38s on escort. Its annoying to say the least.

Indeed! Very pleased with that. Last time his big guns went in they didn´t manage to close the AF and that was with only level 2 or 3 forts. Now they are up to 6 so results should be even worse for him if he tries again with them.
And even if he does manage the fleet will arrive in a couple of day and then it will be for nothing anyway! So for now I´m happy to let him waste fuel and supply. [:)]

The Fleet
______________________________________________________________________________
Speaking of the fleet...we are now starting to assemble for another run to Korea. This time we will leave behind a permanent Naval defense force at Moppo.
We will also land BFs at Saishu-To and artillery for Korea.
------------------------
The Allied Fleet
------------------------
CV Fleet - 2000 Planes
6 Fast BBs
12 Slow BBs
11 CAs
16 CLs
6x12 DDs
Some CLs and DDs will be left at Moppo to provide a deterrent for bombardments as I intend to permanently station planes at Moppo. Another batch of around 80 PTs will also be delivered. Subs are starting to come back from repairs and 21 are sent straight to Moppo. Another 14 are on their way from Manila. Further 30-35 will be ready within the week.
In addition to that many ships lightly damage in the "2nd day disaster" are nearing completion of their repairs. Within 5 days 1 CV, 1 CVL, 4CVEs 1BB, 4 CAs, 11 CLs and 10+ DDs will finish repairs at Manila. Within another 30 days 1 CV, 1 BB, 5 CAs, 2 CLs and another batch of DDs will be ready.
We also have some stuff coming in from Aden and the West coast. 1 CV, 4 CVLs, 7 CVEs, 2 BBs and 10+ DD/DEs should arrive within 60 days.
------------------------
The Japanese Fleet
------------------------
It looks like we have cleared out the numerous DE/MTBs/E TFs that roamed the waters outside Moppo. None have been seen for over 2 weeks.
We know the two Yamatos are still operational together with 3 or 4 of the slow BBs (one took 2 TTs a couple of weeks ago). We also have the 3 CAs that made an appearance at Moppo. Status of the KB is uncertain but believed to be 4-6 CVs consisting of 300-400 planes. I see at least two CVs repairing at Hiroshima under a 600 plane CAP. I won´t bother trying to sink them at port. They will be easier to destroy when leaving port if he can repair them.
Obviously we have a crushing superiority on the sea and while the IJN still exist they currently pose no strategic threat to the Korea operation.

Gunzan - Your screenshot of the troops there shows most divisions eligible for OOB upgrade in 15 days. Do you know what this will be?? Hopefully you will have the base then and can do it there.

Yes, 27 Pershings and 27 Sherman CS tanks per ID!

135 Armor, 220 Anti Tank and 35 Antisoft. To compare with the Shermans 90/120/32. Only the Joseph Stalin II and III are more heavily armored. Nothing Japanese will come even close to touching the Pershings.
Should add also that this is the last TOE upgrade that will take place in the game. Nearing the end now.

Quick update before dinner
------------------------
Korea
------------------------
Erik indeed had a large LRCAP up over Gunzan. Luckily at least some of my sweeps arrived first and the bombers where sheltered by the P38 escort.
My P38 escort took a heavy, heavy beating though for little damage on the troops.
Erik also tried to bomb my troops but the 15th NZ AA BDE fended them off easily shooting down almost 20 bombers outright. I doubt they will be back. No damage to the troops. In return the allies inflicted less then 500 casualties on the Japanese defenders. Not good enough for the losses I took.
If Erik keeps up his LRCAP tomorrow I have a little surprise for him.
A Japanese DE TF entered Moppo during the night. Probably to take out some PTs. One PT sunk.
------------------------
China
------------------------
No attack from the Canton/HK stack. My bombers did give them a good workover though.
Other then that it was a quiet turn! Forgot to take a screen before ending the turn so you will have to live without one! [:D]
