Warspite, your attempts to get get this thread locked with your comments are quite childish. Just go back to "your" forum will you?
warspite1

This is my forum as much as yours pal. I vote we get all the unemployed, round em up, put them in the army and invade Russia. Hey we won't win the war but it will cure the unemployment problem.
warspite1

NO! better idea - let's get all the Remtards from the General Discussion forum - you know the ones that can't play complex games. We can put them in the army instead. Reeeeesult - leave you grown ups like Winkle and Alfred to talk all big grown up talk an' S*** while we does the fightin of the commies.

"otherwise his people may refuse to pay price for his dream"
This is not his dream.  While I doubt the Russian people are thinking 'empire', they are just now coming out of a completely wrecked economy.  The Russian people are a fiercely proud people.  And with very good reason.  The fall & breakup of the Soviet Union, with the resultant economic & military loss, was a stupendous blow to their pride.  Not their ego, their pride.  They are recovering, and flexing their power with what they see as is their right.  We cannot think objectively on their actions until we put ourselves in their shoes, and go back a generation or 2 in doing so.

Lecivitus, a lot of true, but WHY why and one more why, dream of this "fiercely proud people" must be paid off by body count of neighbors ??

BTW: This "fiercely proud people" were occupay my country for over 200 years total. I am afraid they one day they may try it again.

As they said in Dr. Strangelove , "gentlemen , you can't fight in here! This is the war-room!"[:-][:D]

Come on guys! Play nice. Or take a time out! [:-]

See post #61. He is just trying to get this thread locked because the one in "his forum" was locked. Hence the childish behavior.

Just ignore him until he grows bored or his parents put him to bed.

This thread is blatantly against the rules. End of. Or at least it should be if the rules were applied to all forumites across the board consistently and fairly. Is that REALLY to much to ask for? or too difficult to understand?

Re the above I think quite the reverse is true. Discussing WWII or the Cold War is historical and thus allowed.

If you care to re-read my post, I wrote 'compare' and not 'discuss'. Comparing WWII or the cold war to the Ukrainian crisis inm an emotionalized way like we have already seen in this thread. It does obviously not apply, and it potentially leads to the usual generalized political statements already posted.

Crimea is not Maine, it is not like ´31, ´35, ´38, ´39 all over again, its not Hungary ´56, yadda, yadda.
warspite1

No. Discussion of those topics is fine - they are historical. Comparison is not as you need to compare it with ..... current political events.

The thread is not against the rules. BUT unfortunately several contributors are acting and posting outside the rules. I can't speak for others , but frankly I wish you'd take your lovers quarrel somewhere else! Couldn't you meet for pistols at dawn somewhere? [:D]

This thread has been very mature and interesting. Only your intervention made it twist to something else. Why are you trying to close it? if tones remain soft and mature, a good discussion is what makes people grow...why would you want to close our mouths?
And don't say itìs just because in the GD forum they haven't allowed you to do so... that would be really childish.
And, however, even if that was your target, why don't you simply PM a moderator instead of pouring fuel in the fireplace?

My 2 cents aligns with the Bullwinkle’s recent article.  This has nothing to do with Sevastopol, or ethnic Russian indigents.  Its resources.  And if that does not ring a bell in this forum, it won't anywhere.

Wow, you show me one one major conflict in the history of mankind that was not about ressources at its´ root, and I show a vegetarian tiger tending sheep out of charity.

Sevastopol and the Russian population of the Krim and the Ukraine are the Helena of Troy of this conflict. Motivation, justification, and complication, but not the root cause.

You don´t truly believe that every participant of this debate isn´t aware of this, are you?

Nah - I genuinely have no issue at all with JocMeister (apologies to you). He was only starting a thread he thought was a good idea and would like it to continue. I understand that. Its that Winkle geezer I have the beef with.

Well, it will be interesting to see what happens if the Ukrainian forces resist.

Guess it depends on what they think their chances are

Hi everyone,

As a reminder, "no politics" is one of our forum rules. While this is partly just current events, it is a political discussion as well when it comes to talking about the responses and actions of the different nations and actors. Since we are a global community of wargamers, we want to keep this forum focused on the hobby that we share and keep issues that may divide us for the many other forums on the internet focused on these topics.

Thread locked.

Regards,

- Erik
