American BB class graphics....

Post by Tankerace »

I don't know if this is actually a "bug" or not, and I know it is purely cosmetic, but I'll say it anyway. The graphics for the American prewar battleships (Nevada, Pennsylvania, New Mexico, Tennessee, and Colorado) are all wrong. The graphic for the Nevada is correct for a pre-Pearl Harbor sillouette(sp), but her post Pearl modernization should look more like the graphic of the Tennessee/Colorado (which is correct, assuming you mean the look of the Tennessee and California from late 1943 on, and the West Virginia of the Colorado class from 1944 on, Maryland and Colorado never looked that way, instead retaining a modifed prewar look (as did Tennessee until late '43), only losing their cage mainmast, but keeping the foremast), but without the clipper bow. The New Mexico would also have a better fit resembling these classes, as that was where the look was first introduced (A note, USS Idaho was beamier than New Mexico and Mississippi, as she carried 5"/38 DP mounts, the Mississippi (of Which my grandfather commanded a 14" gun on B turret) retained the 5"/25s, and the New Mexico kept bnoth the 5"/25s and the 5"/51s. The Pennsylvanias are the worst (excusing the New Mexicos which never had tripod masts), as their graphic depicts them in their World War I guise. After the late 20's, they were indistinguishable from the Nevadas except for: 1) the Nevadas had a 30ft cut down stern section, and 2) B and C turrets carried trip[le as opposed to twin guns. When Pennsylvania was refitted in 1943, she too gained the "American look" of a beamy hull bristling with twin 5"/38 mounts, but kept a more pronounced tripod foremast than the Nevada did.

As I said a purely cosmetic thing that only detracts a little from my wonderful experience with the game.

Nevermind. After I made this post I saw that the Alternate graphics on Spooky's UV site addresses this.
