News for GWTC??

Close Combat: Gateway to Caen is the latest release in the critically-acclaimed Close Combat series and focuses on the largest, concentrated British offensive since the Normandy landings in an attempt to penetrate the German lines west of Caen and cross the Odon River to get the stalled advance moving again.

I owned all the old CC games from 2 upwards to know it has no base building. However it's still a real time strategy game. Or to be nit picky real time tactical game..however as that isn't known as a genre then CC falls under the RTS genre. However this is getting to pedantic and Aspergers like;).

If you up the Inf survivability upto CC2 levels I may consider buying. Inf having a major impact and being able to do things wihtout dropping like flies is what made CC stand out from all other RTS games. CC2 had superb long lasting and intense firefights.
Close Combat isn't a RTS game. You don't have base-building and the missions happen clearly on tactical level.

We don't have an announced release date at this time. I will see what we can do about a few more bones, though.

The number of maps will be more like Panthers in the Fog.

Steve

Any news about the release date ?

Maybe I asked too much? Perhaps everyone is very busy, or there is a possibility that the game will be released after the deadline announced by the first quarter of this year.
So I'm going to ask something else.
I was thinking that a good idea would be that at higher difficulty levels, instead of forming teams of two soldiers would be better would if you reduce the number of platoons available for each regiment.

Busy, yes. [:)] We never set a deadline, just aiming for a target. We do want to get you something that is properly tested. As Conrad mentioned, I suspect you will hear more substantive news very soon.

Regarding difficulty levels and reducing platoons: it's an interesting idea, but would require greater code changes to the engine that are not practical to pursue at this point in time.

Thanks for the replies, I understand what you mean.
In any case a launch close to "blody first" is not good news
Who wants a facelift instead of something new ?

Good feedback Octyss. Our estimate is that some people wil prefer the new and some prefering the old style.

I beleive there is always room to celebrate and improve the old style whereas 'The Bloody First' wil shed new light on the series. Because the new unity engine fits the contemporary gaming audience.

Are you going to release a list with all vehicles in game???

And a little question/suggestion, is possible you add an "all in one" battlegroup per side??? i refer have a battlegroup with ALL vehicles and teams per side to create scens with the units you want without need search a battlegroup with the units you want use.

Thanks.

Your request is feasible in a limited way, but it's some work and logistics to do this right now. Also it would require a huge amount of scrolling on the battlegroup screen for the fictional BGs on both sides. I think it could confuse as many people as it would please, but if there's an overwhelming clamor for it, it could make the last-minute wish list.

Regarding the vehicle list: keep in mind that a number of the vehicles included in the list are "variants" which include various camouflage schemes for the same German tank. The Panther tank for examples has three variants and a total of 7 different camouflage schemes. There are subtle differences between the D, A, and G variants in the data and with the visual model. The Churchill will have a Mk. III, Mk.IV, Mk.VIII, Mk.VI, and Crocodile... but now I'm giving too much away.

Thanks for the reply.

Then you include in vehicles the subvariants (something normal) AND the camo versions??? i refer we have as vehicle Panther A with x camo and other is Panther A with y camo no???

Well, the point with the generic battlegroup is because since the CC5 old times i allways miss a way to create fast and easy custom scenarios, many times i lose a lot of time searching the unit with the vehicles i want and many times i was unable to create the scenario i want because some units are in a BG and other units are in a diferent one.

Maybe over scroll you can use a drop box to select units.

i think i saw something ....
Can you tell me if there are any maps with minefields?
From a historically point of view the British had to overcome some minefields during Operation Epsom.

No minefields, they didn't play a significant role in the battle. Some of the tanks of 31 Armoured Bde ran into those minefields before they entered the fray. Their losses are abstracted in the forcepools.
