New Scenario: Philippine Savior (Beta)

Post by AdmiralSteve »

Pyongyang has vehemently objected to the newly signed pact that returns the US Navy 7th Fleet to Subic Bay and has begun an occupation of the island nation.

This scenario is a beta scenario as I have not been able to test it all the way through. I'd appreciate any burps and belches that anyone finds.
Thanks,
Steve

Decent idea except that for some reason I can play as "china bomber/transport" and other things i dont think i'm supposed to play as. May need a bit of tweaking

Thanks for noticing. I'll fix that.

Have played it to the first six hours (ingame). I generally like the theater around the Philippines set in modern days.

First things first - The briefing was referring to Pyongyang, the capital of North Korea. I have no idea if I terribly tangled up some things here but in case you where talking about the capital of China, it would be Beijing.

I noticed that Chinese land-based aircrafts backed off before they could get in appreciable distance to any US ship or aircraft. I'm sure this happend because of fuel quantity carried which calls for Chinese airborne tankers in the theater or a base that is significantly closer to the US deployment somewhere on the east coast of the Philippines. The US could also make use of some, placed at Guam.

Also, Chinese ships tried to intercept US aircrafts. For most of the time I just saw them dancing around in front of the Philippines haha. Maybe check/uncheck some options in the Mission Editor.

It was cool to see that the marine corps aviators, based on the Makin Island, where given F-35's. But there weren't any on CVN-77. Set in 2016, Carrier Air Wings will have that aircraft in service. So maybe some F-35 for the George Bush?

I would love to see a bit more detail, why not giving the ship names? [:)]

Keep going, I'm interessed to see more scenarios set in the Philippine area! Remember that good scenarios always need a lot of work.

I'm glad I got that part right![;)]

Thankfully, geography is not needed in my job. Wait, it is. I'm a truck driver.

Setting up CAP for the Chinese is just the way I've been doing since starting with Harpoon a hundred years ago and I've never heard of anyone setting up the AI to refuel A/C on its own. Manila seemed logistically correct to "takeover" since I don't believe that their is a whole heck of a lot due east of their and it's strategically important. I put the F-16's at Guam with no tankers so the F-16's would be used for CAP over Guam rather than interdiction over Manila. Putting in tankers, I thought, was just one more thing to manage and I felt that the scenario was already busy.

Also, Chinese ships tried to intercept US aircrafts. For most of the time I just saw them dancing around in front of the Philippines haha. Maybe check/uncheck some options in the Mission Editor.

Other than the Chinese ships being set up on patrols, I can't really explain their behavior. I have noticed that in other scenarios too.[&:]

I thought that I was pushing the envelope on realism with the F-35 being in the scenario so I didn't really want to fill the skies with several wings of an A/C that wasn't 100% ready in December 2013. If I remember, the carrier version wasn't quite up to par yet due the the strength requirements for carrier launch and recovery.

I would love to see a bit more detail, why not giving the ship names? [:)]

Sometimes I'll get historically accurate names but the research for scenario design is very time consuming for me so if I feel that I've spent waaaay tooooo loooong on a scenario, I'll pull the plug on 100% accuracy and go for play-ability.

Thank you. This scenario isn't quite done yet so I'll change the Chinese CAP a bit or move the US CSG closer to shore. Thanks for taking the time to play it and give feedback. Criticism is key to this kind of thing.

Great scenario

The Chinese patrols dont fire at all against my CAP.

Been playing a while and the Guam Strike event has fired.

However...it has been repeating the notification every second.
Cant wait to see what I have to deal with.

Thanks for the time and effort.

Great scenario

Thanks. I put a bunch of effort into it and that makes it worth while.

The Chinese patrols don't fire at all against my CAP.

I changed the side ROE to be more aggressive.

Been playing a while and the Guam Strike event has fired.

However...it has been repeating the notification every second.
Cant wait to see what I have to deal with.

I think I fixed the Event Editor so as the event was not repeatable thus the notifications should stop.

Thanks for the time and effort.

Thank you for the feedback. I'll test the changes and re-post the scenario.
