Coming soon list

Post by wodin »

The Coming soon list is starting to look abit thinned out..are there any surprises due this year? I keep dreaming that Mr Grigsby announces development has started on the new Steel panthers alongside WITW. A new Steel Panthers or Computer ASL are really the only games I'm waiting on now..and only SP is a maybe and Computer ASL is a true dream. Why Slitherine let Paradox get the bid for it I don't know.

Wow...an update to Steel Panthers. Now that would be something...maybe...someday. And Computer ASL; I still feel that's in pipe dream territory. I'm afraid that anything Paradox comes out with won't be a true turn based translation of the board game to computer, but rather some spin off RTS game.

I guess the coming soon area is looking a bit thin. Here's what I've got so far:
Close Combat - Gateway to Caen - 1st quarter 2014
Close Combat - The Bloody First - 2nd half of 2014 [:)]
WH40k Armageddon - 1st quarter 2014 [8D]
Modern Wars - Middle East - ??? (coming soon I've heard [;)])
Sovereignty: Crown of Kings - ??? (I believe by now they are in beta, but not sure)
Order of Battle : Pacific - ???
Brother against Brother - ???
Strategic Command 3 - ???

And Combined Arms is still, of course, pining for the fjords.

If anyone who ambles by here has better release info or updates on any of these please let me/us know. Also, that is great to hear about Middle East; I wasn't even aware that was being worked on.

We've got a lot coming but we cant get them up till we have box art and product pages and we're running to keep up with the release schedule. Expect a host of cool announcements soon!

My release schedule has 30 games aiming to release this year with another 10 already planned for next year (not counting things like Steam releases of existing games, though some are tablet versions of existing games). Almost certainly a number of those will slip, new titles will get signed up and as existing teams finish current games new games will appear on the schedule so there is a lot of stuff coming!

Not much coming up that I'm waiting on; Distant Worlds Universe is about it, and only that if it makes no attempt to further fleece those of us who have already bought the base game and all the expansions. Maybe Brother Against Brother. Ian's post suggests a lot we don't know about yet, though.

More tactical, less grand strategy. That's all I ask. More squad/platoon/coy games with LOS and smoke and .......

Mark Walker's Heroes of Stalingrad was the last lastest and greatest I was waiting on. Now that time has passed I don't see anything in the fire I'm waiting for( Well I guess you could count Worlds in Flame with an AI a good one not some just thrown on one like most games). Now, if there were some ancients or pacific land battle games? I'd be all over it.

One game of utmost want is a Norbsoft goes to Rome. An empire building game along with his great combat engine and my god that would be about the best game of my life. An actual ai that can fignt a battle for itself like Norbsoft's in the Ancient or Roman times....priceless. Literally I think you could name your price on a game like that. >sigh< I can dream can't I? [&o]

I await Order of Battle: Pacific, if not quite eagerly, then with cautious hope. If it's semi-serious, half-way plausible and historical, albeit simplified; if it's no mere beer & pretzels toy -- I will purchase it. If not, I scratch my WWII Pacific fix elsewhere. Watching and waiting on that one.

Looks like WITW will be my next purchase. I keep hoping for another Pacific war game to blow me away but nothing I've seen does that yet.

WITW is probably going to be my only "big" purchase this year.
