Forts & Pillboxes

Post by chrisdolphinfan »

Have there been any changes to forts, pillboxes, bunkers etc... One thing I did'nt like in the original games was the inability to change the facing of the unit.
Has this been addressed? It would be cool
to have some of the Atlantic Wall fortifications. Thanks for the response.

Very much so, Chris. There are now a number of different types of fortifications, from coastal guns to Siegried Line guns, pillboxes, AT pillboxes, bunkers, MG nests, rifle pits and caves. Many new graphic representations of these. Plus underwater obstacles, gullies that you can make AT ditches by placing dragons teeth inside, and much more.

You'll like your choices...Wild Bill

As to your question about facing of units, I am not quite sure to what you are referring. Unit facing can be changed by:

1. Left click on the unit you want to change

2. Right click in the hex where you want it to face.

3. Of course, bunkers, etc, once placed, cannot change their facing. They were built that way. But all other units can be changed in the editor and the game using the above one-two steps.

Thanks Wild Bill. I guess reading the manual
would have helped me long ago. Thanks for
the quick response. Sounds like there's going to be some great new fortifications.

Do these forts/pill boxes include the Panter turret forts used by the Germans in Italy?

Chris, I'm sending you a small jpg file. See how many fortifications you can find in it. There are at least four different ones. This is from the Betio scenario...

Yes, KOA, there is one fortication icon that could well be a tank turret emplaced in the ground. It could further be edited to be any tank turret...WB
