Problem adding munitions for aircraft at Generic Runway Unit in editor

Post by jhelton »

New to the game and it is probably user error but I am having problems with aircraft added to a generic airfield added to a new scenario. I must be missing a piece of the puzzle to the editor even though I RTFM. [:)]

1. Start a new scenario.
2. Add a “Side”. In this case “Russian”
3. Select Iceland but don’t use the “Keflavik” import. Instead, I select "Add Unit" and then a large (4000m runway) generic single unit airfield. Tried the Keflavik import but problem was same. Had set Keflavik up on Russian side but after having the loadout issue I thought maybe it was because it was originally not Russian so I decided to go generic. I was going to set up Iceland as already in Russian hands.
4. Select the airfield unit, click on aircraft button and add a SU-27 Flanker (actually I can select any Russian fighter and the problem is the same).
5. Click on the airfield and then click on “Magazines” in the unit description area on the right. Shows no munitions in the dialog. Click on Add Weapon Record and it shows the weapon availability for the aircraft available at the airfield (in this case Flankers). Added all of the available Alamo type AA missiles for the Flanker and then 100 for the count to make them available. Made sure the weapons listed show as Operational
6. Go to Mission Editor and it shows the aircraft available in the right column and no missions in the left column.
7. Select the Fencers and then the Ready Aircraft button (going to set them up as CAP). Dialog in the lower area shows up for weapons/loadout selection but it is grayed out and I am unable to select any weapons or loadout for the fighters.
8. Select the “Air Ops” option in the Unit menu and it shows that the fighters are parked and their loadout as “Ferry”. It also shows no munitions available (even though ammo shows in the “magazines” dialog). Unable to change loadout to anything besides already listed “Ferry” which shows in Air Ops Dialog. Aircraft will launch and RTB from the airfield but in "Ferry" loadout.

Have tried several times and the problem is the same. The scenarios start fresh with the only units added to the scenario are the Generic Airbase and a couple of Flankers. Basically, I am unable to loadout any aircraft after placing them in a generic runway unit. They only show as "Ferry".

One other little problem is that in editor I cannot Delete any unit/group once it is placed on the map. All the delete key does is cycle through any units within the group until after cycling through three or four units the game crashes. If I place something on the map in error I have to start a new scenario to get it removed.

Thanks for any help.

Should have also mentioned that the game was recently installed and updated to the latest version.

Hi John,

Not sure what is going on . If you can post the scenario file and I can probably get to the issue much quicker.

Thanks!

Thanks for the reply Mike,

I wasn't aware v1.03 was out so I just updated. Seems problem is resolved. I just added a Single Unit Airfield, 5 SU-27s and Alamo and Adder missiles. This time when I went to F6 - Air Ops, I was able to loadout the 5 SU-27s for CAP with the missiles. The ordinance even showed up in the # of weapons available. I should also mention that this time the Air Ops dialog showed the planes parked but instead of Ferry, it showed "No Loadout".

Heck, it might still have been User Error, but all seems well now.

Again,
Thanks for the reply.
