I was kind of surprised to see it trigger a shock for both the armored car and full division.

The division was already on the other shore and the AC triggered an attack by both? I thought it was no matter what if you crossed into enemy hexes across a river you had to have 1:1. That makes sense. Cripes I'm still a newb, or boob.....I prefer...

To take on Japanese KB, I tend to form an Allied "Death Star" for '42 and beyond. I always add an additional Marine fighter group (18 planes) to all American CV except Wasp. Its nice to have 45 fighters per CV even if they are all Wildcats.

I agree 100%, the American Carriers need to be stuffed with the extra fighter unit as there are not enough to protect and project power without the unit.

[8D] I already have the 25th Division prepping for Christmas at Pearl. This is RA, so there are some changes in Allied OOB along with Japanese. I have CLV Charlotte with 12 fighters and 12 DBs. I get parts of the French fleet at start and their two BCs in a few months. Despite losing Prince of Wales on day one to an I-boat, I will have about 18 BBs (new and old) by mid-42. His attack at Pearl was largely ineffective as I get the last BB repaired in less than 5 months.

Add in the British CV/CVLs that can be used in mid-42 until they withdraw, I'll have about 600 carrier based planes by May and more if I wait for Wasp in mid-June. The question I need to figure out is where to use them?? The Line Islands or South Pacific are likely. Looking at John 3rds AAR and I can match numbers briefly in mid-42 vs Japanese carriers, but he may have better pilots. In RA, there are dedicated "Training Groups" for the Americans - 3 Navy, 2 Marine, and 3 Army. So, when Hornet just came in, I was able to fill out her air groups with highly trained pilots. This will help me out later.

I'll PM you my comments later tonight as I don't want to tip my hand to AirGiff as we both have been reading the forums for advice, ideas and things put in the book of though shall not do, ever, nope not ever.

Overview:
Situation in China, especially in greater Sian area is at risk after the defeat to east of this base. I have seen the tanks from Manchuria in this area. J3 had given Japan 1000 PP at start and BBW used some to buy out lots of tanks. I had done relatively well in getting troops back out of clear terrain, but some had retreated to bases that get them cut off and die eventually. The re-spawn bug is discovered.

Luzon - with stacking limits, I'm back into Manila and hope to get forts up to 3. Any more takes too long and uses too many supplies.

Malaya - I was able to react fast enough to get significant forces into Singapore before the early landing at Mersing could cut them off.

Warships - The loss of PoW was a surprise. Enterprise getting a TT hit hurt my plans to get two American CVs over to SRA to join CLV Charlotte and CVL Hermes. I made mistake in leaving Saratoga in San Diego until end of month to join Yorktown. She should have left immediately and then had warships to form escorts leave Pearl to SE as soon as KB1 & 2 were far enough away from Pearl after a few days.

Overview:
Singapore - it took longer to fall than I thought with 8 divisions attacking. I'm learning that BBW likes to bring overwhelming force and lots of artillery to his attacks.

China - I'm in general retreat around Sian and now in the south from the bases near Changsha as my MLR was breached. My respawning Corp are very weak. Most have less than 50 rifle squads rather than the normal 200 plus. Ouch!!

South and Central Pacific - This is my first game losing the Line Islands. [:(] [X(] Now it seems both Pago Pago and New Calendonia will be under assault in February. Unable to recombine my American CVs into a "Death Star" and with CV Enterprise needing yard time, what to do?? CV Lex and Enterprise will head for Panama entry points in south and then make way to San Diego for repairs.

SLOC - the normal shipping routes to NZ and OZ are either blocked or at great risk of being interdicted by CV/CVLs and/or SC TF operating out of Line Islands. Thus, most of my troops head for Eastern USA and then the month plus transit time to Port Stanley. Ships head out of west coast to Eastern USA via Panama to load supplies and fuel for Port Stanley. Thus, the month of February will be just shifting of forces away from west coast to new bases in South Pacific. A totally new logistic network will be used for this game...for the time being. [;)]

Here is a screenshot of my 4e bombers. There are a few more not listed, but most of those are the HQ groups with 4 of less planes. The 19th BG is mostly in India and doesn't withdraw until Oct or Nov '42.

I've lost only 3 of the D models to date (April 4th) and none of the E model.

With loss of Line Islands and Pago Pago, I cannot get them over to NZ or OZ from Pearl. So, I'm building up the Marquesas Islands to get them there. In your game vs J3, you will need to go through Cape Town.

Dutch - What to do with them?? [&:]

My screenshot shows the few LCUs I spend PP on and relocated to Perth for rebuilding. There are three BFs plus an AA here. Missing is the Makassar BF that is over in NZ to be used soon to supply Aviation Support (AS) at Raoul Island (NE of Aukland). DO NOT recombine them as you lose a lot of their Aviation Support. [:-] Speaking of Aviation Support, I spend PP on the two 100 AS BFs that are based at Batavia and Soerabaja early on. I then use Dutch PBYs and for the last part of the journey, other PBY/Catalina to send a fragment to India and Australia for rebuilding once Java falls. North to Sabang, Port Blair, Chittagong, and over to Bombay and south to Koepang, Darwin, march to Alice Spring, and then to Sydney. As an Allied players knows, there is never enough AS. Having an extra 200 AS in mid-42 is helpful. [:)]

Ships - I salvage what I can and I now have two of the ARDs that started in Soerabaja at Adelaide. They need to be in Escort TF with high Endurance xAKs to refuel from daily. They stayed three hexes or more off the west coast of Australia to avoid subs after Repulse was torpedoed. One is a 20k capacity ARD and along with an AR can repair anything from a CA and smaller. Subs end up being based out of Colombo and/or Calcutta. There are too few British subs to do the job off the coast Burma to Malaya.

Air - As you lose those crappy planes, I Disband them into other groups, but move most of the pilots into Reserve. I allow them to Reform in 120 days as this will occur at Aden. In RA, I added my desire to get a trickle of pilots and some of the American planes that they use to produce through late 42. They will be used on the west coast of India to allow the British/Indian/CW groups to be used at the front lines.

The one thing I don't move away or use later is the Dutch CD guns. As any Japanese player knows, they can be nasty on transports. [:D] What I didn't see from BBW was placing CAs or BBs in his Amphib TF to soak up the shell hits. I highly recommend this practice.

Overview:
South Pacific - I was able to turn back the first effort at New Caledonia, but BBW is now down at Noumea. However, that lone infantry regiment will not be enough. Pago Pago will fall, but those two CD units are taking their toll on his transports. Subs off here and Canton have not been lucky enough to get a hit on any major warships. Troops and shipping headed for Port Stanley in mass.

CV Enterprise is repairing at San Diego.

Java is going to fall as there is at least three full divisions there. Southern Sumatra is Japan as the troops left from Palembang are pushed north.

China - a slow steady retreat in north. However, Chinese Corp are having more and more of them with disabled infantry which doesn't help when the SL is over 10k against the hexes limit. I don't have the troops to rotate in and give the beat up Corp a month or two to recover.

Overview:
China - the war of attrition continues to wear down my troops. Japan can divide their division to speed up recovery of disabled troops while my one time doing this resulted in more casualties to my troops. I don't have the forces available to rotated troops, so I've decided to retreat from major bases like Changsha as I cannot stay there with my losses. need hexes with lower stacking limits.

South Pacific - New Caledonia and Pago Pago fall while Suva will be under attack soon. Fuel to NZ has come via Port Stanley and along the southern map edge. Thankfully, I was able to get my TKs there before KB came looking off Aukland.

Java - I'm down to just Soerabaja, but BBW committed 5 divisions here.

Invasion Bonus - its over!![:)] India and most of Australia were not invaded so all is not bad.

Allied Fleet - most of the American, some French and Brits are at Alameda. April will see the big 4/42 to give me radar and my subs at various ports.

Port Stanley - transports, supply, fuel, and aircraft start to flow in from Eastern USA and the first TFs leave for places in SE corner of Pacific. Details to follow as actual game turn is April 8th.

Overview:
Screenshot shows the situation in northern China. Troops had retreated to Kungchang vs Tienshui and will probably be destroyed.[:@] In the south it looks like the push towards kweilin is underway. His bombers are getting good supply hits at AFs, but enough supply is at Chungking to allow Rifle squad replacement. I've used almost 1500 to date and none are in the pool.

Suva is only outpost in SoPac. Efforts in SE Pacific to be described more fully soon as I'm caught up.

No noise coming out of Burma towards India.

Intel doesn't show any prepping for further invasions now that Manila and Java are captured.

BIG Question - What does BBW do now that non-China operations are done and he still has a large number of divisions doing nothing???

China:

In the north, BBW is using 55 Sally almost daily. These groups have been operating for some time, so I would expect very good experience.There is significant forces at Kungchang and beyond that are probably gone, but I hope it takes time and some allocation of forces to destroy.

In the south, with Changsha his, his focus is now to the stack 2 ENE of Kweilin. 64 Lily are over here attacking Kweilin and Luichow AFs. This stack is gaining experience quickly and they are at or near the magical 50.

Overall, I don't think I can stop him. There are over 30 Japanese divisions in China, plus he has brought in tanks and heavy artillery from Manchuria. BBW has been relentless in his attacks since the beginning. However, I will fight for every inch here.

The division was already on the other shore and the AC triggered an attack by both? I thought it was no matter what if you crossed into enemy hexes across a river you had to have 1:1. That makes sense. Cripes I'm still a newb, or boob.....I prefer...
