Thanks for the work

Post by jonj01 »

I wanted to thank Laska and Jcrohio for the maps. right now I have 4 new map mpp files that work ( 1 hill mpp, the two mpp files for the squad leader board 1( city), and the mpp file for the Hell scenario)

Also thanks to jcrohio for the new german (andfrench)units. They were exactly what I needed to start my campaign for the Kharkov 1942 campaign. I needed some older vehicles for the germans.

If I missed any new units or self standing single panel map files that I can convert into usuable mpp files, please post where I can find them here.

Jonj01,i have ready also the map 5, but i have made the whole ASL map that need 3 panels(2,5) to be used.
If you want i can post the bitmap and than you work on it in the way you want.
One picture is visible in the Laska scenario thread.

To both acropora and laska...I really don't want to mess with polygon set up. I'm sure I can get the hang of it..it is just that time is limited. You guys already spent the time setting up the polygons once.

The way the map editor works now..the only way one can use any maps outside the scenario they were initially designed for is for the single panels to be constructed (that is having a specific bmp file background, and having the polygons set up) in the map #1 panel slot of the "map info" sub menu of the editor menu for the game. Then saved as a scenario (i.e. a .map file) then reloaded and then saved again as a .mpp file. If the bmp file is not in the #1 slot and the polygons saved as a scenario...data is lost.

The steps as I understand them is you have to load 1)"XComplete Blank Map"
2)put your bmp file in the map #1 slot of the "map info" sub menu
3)put all your polygons on your map for LOS restrictions
4)save the single panel as a Map file
5)reload and then save the single panel as a mpp file.

any deviation from the steps above and data will be lost.

For example I was able to extract One mpp file (based on the bmp file ASL_BC_002a) from the scenario by laska hill 253.5 by deleting the bmp file (ASL_BC_002b) in the map #3 slot of "map info" submenu, and performing steps 4+5. Because the polygons for the bmp file ASL_BC_002b were set up in the `#3slot instead of the #1 slot data was lost. I also did this for the "Hell" scenario..but because this was a single panel map no fiddling around was necessary.

So for multi-panel maps or scenarios one can only get a single mpp panel with data out of them, if the polygons were set up for all the panels at one time.

Its kinda pain in the neck..but there is no way around it right now.

Again thanks for all your hard work.

However, the absolutely best place for mpp files is laska thread and web page at http://www.mromagnani.com/?p=17
