[Q] Reassigning fighter to new home base

Post by Twist_180 »

Firstly, hello everyone!
I just bought the game a week or so ago and I have to say I'm very impressed and pleased that I did.
I've always been interested in details in a game and this certainly provides that! Strange though how I'd never heard about this game before??
I only came across it as I was researching some things about the recent stuff going on in the Ukraine and happened by chance upon a scenario set up by Baloogan, it was intricately detailed and I was amazed at the research that had gone into it! Satellite imagery overlay (nice!), recon through open source as to troop and asset positions, (awesome!), etc etc!
And then to find that the developers were online too, answering questions and offering advice, well I was hooked. (Dimitris conjured up the image of a cold-war spy with too much information in his head blurting out things that he really really shouldn't be. His seemingly infinite knowledge on systems, specs and how to apply that knowledge also made me think it would be a worthwhile purchase and usually I've found game developers too afraid to face their audience
So, after a little more digging into the mechanics, some late nights with Jack Daniels & Baloogan's Youtube expliots and trawling this forum I bit the bullet and downloaded. I've played a couple of scenarios and got the general feel of it now and the next in line was Canary's Cage which leads me to my question......

I noticed on the carrier in Grupo Alpha that the carrier only had 12/16 aircraft so I would like to assign x4 Harriers from Rota or x4 Hornets with the Harpoons at Moron to protect against possible surface ships but I can't for the life of me figure out how it's done. I've read as much as I can on here before asking and I'm not much of a forum poster, but it's starting to drive me a little nuts because I'm sure it can be done!!?
I'm dead certain whatever it is is really simple and I'm missing something really obvious but please help if you can. Also, how can you tell if an aircraft is allowed to land at a certain airbase? I'm assuming it's with regard to the "Aircraft Facilities" in the DB viewer. The carrier hangar says "Medium Aircraft" and the Hornets / Harriers are indeed medium? Can you only re-assign to airbases perhaps?

Puzzled.....

Welcome [:)]

I'd try to select the carrier and create a ferry mission (to the carrier) and then assign the aircrafts to that mission.

I find I cannot assign a "Group" to a new home base. First I must press NumPad 9 to select unit view then assign each aircraft individually. Also you cannot group "Groups" together. Must dissolve the groups into single units and then group them.

Ah! The NumPad 9 helped! And also I ought to learn to count. Bit embarrassing but the carrier IS actually full. It was the Santa Maria in the group that is empty and I'm guessing she can only take helicopters. Glad I figured it and thanks for the responses!

Although now I think.....why can't the Harriers land on the helipad?

They probably could, but there would not be an appropriate magazine to arm them and I'm pretty sure the Avgas for a chopper wouldn't go to well in a Harrier.
