Three versions for the US Army. See below

Yellow should be used for N. Afrika. I toned down the yellows from earlier attempt. Think they're much better now

Yes, much better. I agree: toned down and desaturated colors are best. The unit bases should be enough to distinguish one side from another, also to set the units apart from the terrain. Otherwise, they should not be too garish, should not draw too much attention to themselves!
