Why ask an Airedale that? [:)]
Sub launched Tomahawks can be launched 3 ways. One , through the torpedo tubes. Two through a special launcher on the improved LA class attack boats that do not tie up torpedo tubes and allow a mass launch. And three , through the Ohio class former Trident launch tubes.ORIGINAL: dr.hal
I thought Tomahawks were tube launched???

That's a former Airedale. After I retired and went to work as a Naval/military historian in several different museums/memorials I gave up "clan affiliation". I became "just the guy with the books". [:D] I even had to learn a little about ARMY guys! :O Besides Moose, I'm reading your book. What's a Bubblehead doing writing about a Marine?[:D]

SLBMs. ICBMs are land-based.
The ones converted for spec ops have had the strat systems removed I think. I'd have to check, as four (?) were converted to be cruise missile trucks and spec op boats. I believe by treaty the Russians are/were allowed to come on-board and inspect to see that they were de-SLBMed. But it's years since I looking into this issue.

I had a lot of former Marines help me. Still shaky on the difference between a First Sergeant and a Master Sergeant.
I did get a couple of scenes into the book on a former-boomer. Those I KNOW were right. [:)]
