AAR - Facing the Bear (TWTNW)

Really enjoyed this one. Final score was Triumph 480 although I don't think I earned it. Lost every vessel in the STANAVFOR fleet to air to surface missiles but did manage to wipe our the Soviet amphibious fleet. The air-to-air situation was a bit of a draw. I found the turning off the map shading part way through (tks Baloogan) helped to spot the enemy aircraft in the clutter. One of the orders were to support the ground forces with fighters. In the end I couldn't get any friendly air over the front and the game ended when the Soviet ground forces crossed the river.

Lost most of the Norwegian air force who were armed with AIM-9s including some rear aspect only models.

I rearmed all of the Norwegian fighters with A2A loadouts including the F-5s. I set these aircraft to patrol east of Bodo and east of Bardufoss. Of course the losses were high but they managed to hold off the Soviet fighters. Due to the position of the Soviet amphib fleet, I couldn't really patrol over the sea at all without getting shot down.

In addition to the Norwegian fighters, I added the extra F-16Cs, Phantoms, and F-15s to the Bodo/Bardufoss AAW patrols once they were ready. Finally I also rebased the F-15Cs that were originally based in Iceland to Orland. By the end, at least half of these fighters had been shot down. The Su-33s probably were the most difficult to take down.
