Tempest Marlin (2016) -- version 3

Post by Mgellis »

Revised version that I hope will be a bit more challenging for people. Please let me know what you think. Is it ready to be included with the community scenario pack? Thanks.

Great!

Now I would like to see that force composition, continue to handle the troubles in that part of Africa. I mean, the conflict cant surely be over yet right? [;)][&o]

Actually, by the time the scenario is over, you will have blown up a large chunk of what Cameroon has to bring to a battle. (I actually looked this up when I was planning the scenario.) This is why I assumed the new dictator would be willing to negotiate; at this point, he does not have much of a choice.

What I might do for a follow-up scenario is leave the Fort Worth on station, maybe with one other ship, and assume they have use drones and helicopters to eliminate a few units unwilling to abide by the cease-fire. The other option might be to have Cameroon invaded by the Central African Republic or Nigeria and Task Force Marlin and the aircraft in Ghana have to stop that attack, too. But now, they're mostly out of Tomahawks...

Hmmm...let me think about this...

That's a bit tougher [:)] I suspect that the B-1s are overkill though (also, if they were assigned to this kind of operation it seems unlikely that the USAF would park these long ranged and extremely valuable aircraft at a forward air base - I'd suggest moving them to the UK or possibly Ancession Island

You may be right...maybe I'll just drop them. There should be enough time to use the F-15s and F-16s for another sortie if they are needed.

Nice scenario.

Did not use the B-2's got a Triumph 2050 VPs. Lost 2 drones from the SA-22's and 3 manned AC because of fuel.

Had one issue where AC assigned to a support mission would sometimes fly off into the wild blue yonder - caught a Tanker over South Africa! Unfortunately there were 2 x F-16s who could have used and they went down thirsty. Will report that one shortly

Didn't realize the rebels were so useless![:@], left them 1 x M-113 and 1 x BM-21 to deal with - but they didn't and after taking a couple hits I ended up Tomahawking them!![8D] - that's one expensive APC [8D]

Two comments:

- the No Fly Zone was problematic, especially RP 163. It would require a lot less micromanagement if you were able to suck that one North a bit.
- The 5 min timeline for the Ranger jump (checked in the editor after I couldn't get it to fire) is a long time I think. Perhaps a 1 min trigger would do the trick - 5 Min is a long long time over a drop zone. It would be cool - but completely unnecessary[:D] to have some Rangers teleport into the DZ - just for effect -.

Really liked it, very well put together and thought out. Thanks
