Mike Scholl
Mike Scholl passed away this weekend after a 9 month battle with cancer.
I met Mike in June 1983 in Richmond, where we played the first (SPI) WITP multi-player game with the "National Monstergaming Society". Mike and I have been playing Monster Games, both board and computer ever since. We were about to start a new game and debating the pros and cons.
I talked to him Friday (18 April) and he did not seem stressed or sound any different. We do not know the cause of death.
Yes Mike was our "resident AFB" during WITP/AE development, he was also one of our top three "bug finders" and so he contributed to this community as much as anyone.
He is survived by a sister. He was 65 years old.

Oh. That's so sad.
I don't know what to say. On one side, losing 9 month battle with cancer is probably better than a long drawn out one.
But, darn it, he will be missed.
Please transmit my condolences to his sister.

That's sad to hear, Joe. Mike was always one of the good guys around here. I remember, before AE came out, that I bet him a case of the finest Puerto Rican rum that AE would be far better in it's AI game than the original WitP. He never took me up on the bet, but if he likes rum, I hope he's holding a glass of it now. Mike, you will be missed in these parts.

I never thought that doing an AAR would be so time consuming and difficult.

Truly sad. When I first joined, he 'chided' me occasionally as a JFB and I always enjoyed it. Classy fellow.

I liked him. He was a crotchetty old man, just like me. I liked hm. He was always so darn practical. I liked him. I hope he considered me his firend, because I considered him as mine. I will truly miss him.
God bless you Mike, and keep you. May He hold you in the palm of His hand and give you peace. John

Oh my, this is kind of a shock. I didn't know about his cancer either. This is so sad. Please express my condolences to his sister/family.
I really hadn't talked to him much since the WITP/AE development period.

Fudge - he was alright for an allied fanboy. He taught me a thing or three.
Really-really sorry to hear he's passed on. A real board gamer like I was. With any luck they'll put a couple of dice in his pocket.
Go with God my friend. RIP bro.

I never had the opportunity to meet or contact Mike on the forum, but his reputation was known.
