Now that's a lucky hit

I just micro-managed a 2x F/A-18C dogfight with one Su-27S - every damn missile and gun burst kept missing, but it was a lot of fun to see! Though the missiles kept missing, there were a lot of close rolls. With the sea-skimmer modifier, it's really quite difficult to score a hit these days.

The above shot was from a different skirmish though. 7% chance to hit and rolls a 3!!!

What really sucks is a PH of 1% and the bad guy rolls a 1 on your F-22!!!! What goes around comes around I guess[:)]

My favorite is when your weapons are able to make it all the way through the missile screens, deck guns, and CIWS, only to end up being.... A dud.... [:D]

That brings up a question.

Are missiles with 'dud' warheads still able to cause damage? Even if there isn't a full powered explosion the impact of a bomb or ASM can still cause significant damage. So does the damage algorithm have a low damage 'tail' in its distribution to represent such things?

Not to mention the burning of the excess fuel with the missile lodged in the middle of the ship - which is what doomed the HMS Sheffield in the Falklands.

Whats Ph in this game? Guess it has nothing to do with acid/base levels of water [:)]

You mean the percent chance to hit? It wildly varies based on the weapon system itself, countermeasures used against it, atmospheric conditions, aspect to the target, radar cross section, presence of jamming, etc.

I was just doing a test with the JSOW-C and had one of them miss a destroyer by 38 feet. Even though it was a miss, it caused fires and severe flooding to the ship, just before 3 more JSOW-C flew directly into it.
