A bad day in the air.
Several ambushes caught my unescorted bombers with their pants down. In china and over Manila the AVG and the american P40Es shot down 30 Sally/Anns for no loss on their part. My bad, i was overconfident and Obvert made me pay for it.
Lesson learnt (hopefully).
The KB is approaching Ambon and sees what seems to be a cruiser SAG near Kendari (probably trying to intercept my shippings near Menado). Will try to make a run here and see if we can reap something.
In the meanwhile the invasion of Java is taking place. The first of a series of big convoys is reaching Merak, while paratroops are ready to grab Kalidati.
Benkoleng falls easily and at Oosthaven Zeros and Oscars are already in place after the easy conquest of Yesterday.

At Kuala Lumpur the enemy forces are more consistent than what i thought. The equivalent of a division in terms of AVs. Anyway, with the arrival of the Imperial (ETA 3 days) and with the help of the IJAAF, i think we should be able to overcome them easily.

Took a look at what i did against QBall in Malaya: in that game Singapore fell on Feb 14... not bad to have done it on Dec 30!
I gotta give all credits to Micheal (NY59Giants) for this. He was the one who pointed me out how to do it!

Thanks!!![&o][&o][&o]

Michael and I had fun bouncing ideas around on Malaya and am glad my esteemed Economics Minister revealed this juicy tidbit. The KEY is the Para drop and holding that base to keep the Allies from retreating fully into Singers. Glad it worked for you Sir.

Thanks Nic!![:)]

I did it on 31st, so you beat me by one day. [&o] The question will now be what can an Allied player do to prevent this from happening in their next game?? IMO, not much. I was able to get elements of the 11th Indian Division at Alor Star recombined at Taiping. Then, I was able to recapture Port Dickson from the para as Big Bad Wolf (BBW) did not reinforce it quickly enough. Thus, i was able to get the whole division into Singapore before the march from Mersing cut them off. Thankfully, I had talked with John 3rd about this before (he did similar in his current game of RA) multiple emails with Nic. John 3rd did a few things different that I saw was correctable with Nic. The multiple invasions at Kota Bharu and Kauntan put Japan within easy range of Singapore and lower the need for CVs to cover Mersing in a few days.

Now, for the next part of GJ's evil plan I am part of......

EXCUSE me. I did not read past you Posting before tossing out my above comment. See Michael does Footnote here. We have spent SOOOO much time on the phone bouncing ideas around I sometimes forget all the various options and thoughts created during those BULL sessions. Much BS flows at these times...

Thanks John!

Yes, we're moving fast, even if less force concentration in the DEI has given the allied dogs the ability to inflict me some bloody noses (2 CAs, 1 CL and 5 DDs sunk, with 2 more CA and 1 BB in yards for quite some time).
Don't know if this is the right receipt, but this time I wanna try to "close my eyes" and keep on pushing and see where it goes.
PDU OFF quite changes the situation, but I'm not that convinced that in 1942 it's all bad for Japan. The allies will be stuck with a lot of crappy planes too and the zeros will remain competitive probably longer than in a PDU ON game.

A day of lights and shadows.
The day begins with a victory. One of my subs patrolling the deep oceans, finally finds a target...and a valuable one too! [:D]
American CVs near NZ? already? He must be getting the first three to the DEI... gotta be carefull and look for opportunities here
Hopefully the Ent will need some time in the yards of Syndey...

Paratroops took Merak without any problem. The first of a long series of convoys will arrive here from Singa. The babyKB is in cover, providing some close support. The ducths seem to be massing ships at Sosarbaja tough... combat ships!

What yesterday seemed to be a cruiser TF near Kendari revealed being a STRONG SAG! The KB arrived 8 hexes of distance and attacked the bastard...heavy storms in the morning prevented any hit, but in the afternoon we placed some eggs on them! Nothing too serious, but they became the prey now!

In China we're losing the air war. Too many P40s there and I haven't anything to counter them.

In Luzon I've made several mistakes and let the P-40s dominate the skies. My Nates are helpless against them... and the PI army doesn't seem so weak now...[X(]

B17s attacked Oosthaven. Some damage occurred.

With Force Z out of the war, this seems to be what the RN has available in the Whole map. That's good to know and if i can get a decent KB's shot at them, i may have free hands for some time, being so able to advance much faster in the Southern DEI.

Jan 8, 1942

The first run was the best one.
The KB moved South of Kendari and attacked the RN who stationed there, damaging 3 more CAs and sinking a couple of ducth CLs.
I asked him why he didn't move them out and he said that probably the orders weren't recieved in the middle-turn save...[:(]
Had to re-do the turn and it went differently.

The RN escaped at full speed and the KB found only flies.
At Merak our TFs arrived and started to unload. The ducth air force attacked and found everywhere our CAP. The CVs were attacked and the bombers repulsed. Same for the amphib TFs at Merak. Only two torp bombers found their way and sunk 2 empty xAKLs...
ducth PTs arrived but were repulsed by the escort.
Landings at Sebang. Fine.
More amphip TFs loading at Singapore.

In Luzon we attacked Clark and dropped the forts to 0. Good!

Tomorrow we'll land at Ambon. Will be an overkill hopefully. Kendari invasion TF on the move.
Lots of enemy subs around...

It was kind of you replaying the turn. Too bad what's happened in Batavia, mines/CD combo can be lethal.

Those DMS, if in a minesweeper task force, sweep all adjacent mines, effectively moving into those adjacent hexes which is why they suffered the coastal battery fire...they will take all other ships in the minesweeping task force with them too.

Jan 9-10-11-12, 1942

We've landed the 56th ID at Merak, along with some support troops.
A para unit took Kalidati, lightly defended.
Now another division is unloading there. Batavia is threatened!
CVs are moving back to Singa. They will take the northern route, pass Sebang, and go down again, covering the ID that will land at Cocos...hopefully unseen ;-)
In The Celebes, we've landed the 4th ID at Ambon, taking it easily. The seas are crowded of subs... and the KB is dancing with them...scary!
Then another TF landed 3 SNLF units at Kendari, taking it quickly.
Air HQs are arriving here, while the KB will move towards Southern Java, covering the Southern accesses to Cocos.

The Whole New Guinea is now taken! BANZAI!

In CENTPAC.... wow....my subs had a field day!

Another attack against Clark is repulsed...but odds are slowly going in my favour there. Takes time. Patience, it's a long war.

Don't know if the York is sunk. I doubt cause not a single enemy carrier plane got down... but she must be damaged and slowed... 10 subs are now hunting her in the deep spaces of central pacific

While i didn't spot anymore the Enterprise...guess she went for Merlbourne...

Nice job with the subs! Two damaged USN CVs = free reign for Japan for several more months.

Thx Crib, that was a lucky shot to be honest.

That means that, until the Wasp arrives, the allies should be limited to 4 CVs...which is a good thing!

The KB moves to the Indian Ocean, but not before I waste 8 more pilots due to CAP and Nav Search ranges...[:o] Ok, enough of it. I can't keep on wasting my precious pilots in this way.
However things are moving. Not less than 100 allied fighters are now operating in China. From Chungking even 15 B17s are strat bombing HK and southern China... ouch!![:(]
Can't do much for the moment. All my Zeros and Oscars are busy protecting the fleets coming and going from Singa to Java... hopefully things will change soon

The York hasn't been spotted today. Hope she doesn't flee too fast
