simulator desktop display

Post by orion_jb2001 »

Hi all,
A new install and I have noticed on the right hand side of the game window, the unit status dialog section is partially missing (right edge, not showing all the detail. If it was a normal windows, I would be looking for a bottom scroll bar to shift the window to the left) Also, some of the other data shown in that dialog section is also obscured horizontally (some data obscured between the different data sections). Game version 1.03 build 504, I am running windows 8.1 64bit, my display and sound systems etc, are well within specs. Any suggestions??

regards,

Jeff

Just further, I did a dx diag test on my system and it passed all areas. I am thinking an obvious display issue but how to correct it is the problem.

Is it a font size issue...small/med/large setting in Windows?

Ahh yes that would explain it. Not near that particular PC for the next 8 hours, I will advise. I believe the font/display desktop settings are slightly larger than the default. [;)]

Ok that was the problem. I had everything increased to 115% from the default 100%. Is there a way to increase the overall size a bit more than 100% but have the game window at 100%. What I am saying, there was a reason I suppose to increase the size of the desktop and to swap around from a bigger size back to 100% and back, is a bit time consuming, resizing screen layouts etc??

Upgraded to 521, didn't fix the issue, still loosing a
portion of the right hand window edge, relative to the size of your increase of desktop size. [:(]

Sorry to hear that.

Is changing for font setting an issue?

Thanks!

Think I have solved it through windows!! After some research, there are 2 ways to increase your desktop size, the way I was doing it, by increasing
the dpi to say 115% OR using the slider (situated above, on that window) from small (default 100% to larger to larger still. The big difference between the 2 methods, increasing the dpi, will increase every thing at all times to that size. Using the slider, windows will adjust individual windows appropriately to give you the same viewing result over all programs and windows. Some program windows may need a bit more of and increase, some windows may need a bit less of an increase, to give the same overall result. An automatic adjustment of all windows to meet the desired user input of desktop size. The simulator result with using the slider method is all the program screen is shown, no bits missing. [;)]

Do you want a screen shot of both (the window with bits missing and the correct window with all showing)

Both these screen dumps are taken from the air ops tut, at the start, clicking on your base. First shot is with dpi increased to 115%; you will note on the right hand side, there are portions missing on the right hand side, specifically on the speed line, it is only showing manual and the first (. The second shot the auto option is viewable. .

With the second one, using the slider to increase the desktop to the next larger size. You will now observe that all portions of the window are present, including the right hand edge.

I noticed something maybe related. Previously, sim fitted to screen with taskbar on, now it covers the button to change ROE. It's bit annoying to change setting to "auto-hide taskbar". Can live with it, though.

Is that because of additional ROE option?
