Eastern Front - North/Center - End of Turn:

The counter-attacks in center are successful and restore the line. A slight withdrawal occurs and the Axis armies await the next Red Army move.

Eastern Front - South - Start of Turn:

Red Army forces continue to trek across the Alps onto the Hungarian Plain. OKH is not too concerned about these forces.. they cannot get any meaningful level of supply and a strong panzer force is about to descend upon them.

Eastern Front - South - End of Turn:

Army Group Souths prepares a defensive line anchored at Iron Gates Pass. The Axis defence here hinges on controlling the road through this mountain pass. As such, it is here where the strongest forces will dig in. Mobile units continue onwards to clear out the Red Army intruders on the Hungarian Plains. Romanian forces dig in for the inevitable attack.

I'm generally satisfied with the opening 2 months of the campaign. One German and one Finnish corps were destroyed out of supply in the East. A few smaller units (divisions, battalions) were also destroyed out of supply. But by and large the Axis has avoided any major encircled losses. The Allies are still stuck in the beachhead in France, they have been pushed back in Italy (a shame I had to stop.. I was having delusions of grandeur with regard to recapturing all of Italy and sending half of the units to other fronts) and the Axis are in good shape to fortify a short, Eastern line with favourable logistics (except in Romania).

However it has come at a fairly serious cost in equipment and manpower:

T30 - Jan 11, 1945

We continued the game until T30. The stop-line more or less held. We did switch to Opart3XBb at about T26 but it wasn't enough to change the facts on the ground.

After some discussions we decided to call it quits. However we have decided to give it another go, same sides, but this time with Opart3XBb from the start. There's also going to be an adjustment of Allied tactics this time around so we're expecting a bit of a different game.

I'll likely do another AAR, but it will generally be seasonal unless something particularly interesting is happening.
