Not to discourage you from pursuing the emulation/Wine method, but if you are going to run various PC wargames I've found it's best to just run windows. Bootcamp works really well. Of course you have to actually partition your disk, and boot into windows and all that entails - but you will find the iMac makes a great windows machine, and it takes all the hassle out of getting windows games to install and run.

I did get it to run but is very slow.

BofH is right that the best route is thru Boot Camp. That means you need to have at least the Win7 OS.
