Just wondering about things like the Shortlands base move. Are units located in the database referenced to the hex or the base? I'm not sure what happens with the units on the map when bases are moved around and stuff.
The old Shortlands base was simply renamed Buin and a new Shortlands base added. Units that started, or were tagged to appear, in old Shortlands will just start or show up at Buin; no problem

John, are these fixes going to be available for the standard map? I think that is Babes A.
Afraid not. The stock map is, well ... stock. Too many people rely on stock being stock, that we need to keep the stock general game environment as simple, straight forward, and standardized as possible. having new bases in a mod is ok, but changing the underlying environment data can cause real headaches.

A hex-by-hex changelog document (Changelog 05_12_14.docx) is in the Ext Map download files. If you have Dave Bradley's hex editor, it's an easy thing to do for your personal stock map data, if you think it is necessary.

Ciao John

Okay, I'll just try updating and see what happens. If it creates to much craziness maybe I'll check out the hex editor you mentioned and just fix the Calcutta hexsides and leave the other two changes (Shortlands and the top left) out.

If you are doing a game using the stock map, you can't really switch out to the extended map. The reason is the units due to arrive at Abadan/Aden. LCUs are tagged to hex coordinates, so moving Abadan causes a real issue. "Everything" else is totally transparent to both scenario data and the AI, but the Abadan/Aden change causes nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, flatulence, premature ejaculation, male pattern baldness, ennui, and Vereitelung [:D]

If you have a stock map game going, I suggest you just fix the Calcutta hexes, if you really need to. That particular fix is so minimal, and applies in such particular circumstances, that I can't imagine it having much immediate utility.

Yea, I'm not on a stock map, since I have the Subic Bay and Malaysia changes.

In any case, the only change I need is the Calcutta change, and even then I would need to actually get close to Calcutta for it to matter, so I'll hold off and make that edit if and when that happens. Otherwise, I'll save the update until I start a new game.

Well, if you are already playing on the Ext Map, you should have no issues, or even questions, about Shortlands, or anything else. Just what, ezactly, is your question?

Well, one question was would updating to the latest version mess things up in the Shortlands area since there is a new base there, but you answered that question. (Thank you!)

I was also under the impression that my map did not have the additional two bases up in the northwest, but now I'm starting to wonder if they are on the map and I just have the wrong artwork panel in place. Looking over some screenshots from my AAR, it looks like I have the wrong art in place for Malaya and the PI, so I'll check it over when I get home. I certainly have the Subic Bay base and the extended version of the Kluong/Batu Pahat bases, just not the matching artwork. I don't have the Shortlands/Buin changes, but that makes sense since they are new additions.
