Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: The German-Soviet War 1941-1945 is a turn-based World War II strategy game stretching across the entire Eastern Front. Gamers can engage in an epic campaign, including division-sized battles with realistic and historical terrain, weather, orders of battle, logistics and combat results.

The critically and fan-acclaimed Eastern Front mega-game Gary Grigsby’s War in the East just got bigger and better with Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: Don to the Danube! This expansion to the award-winning War in the East comes with a wide array of later war scenarios ranging from short but intense 6 turn bouts like the Battle for Kharkov (1942) to immense 37-turn engagements taking place across multiple nations like Drama on the Danube (Summer 1944 – Spring 1945).

laptop query

Post by cato12 »

whats spec for a laptop is required to run this game and the upcoming witw at an acceptable level?

i certainly don't intent buying a gaming laptop but im looking to spend around £500 on a laptop and am wondering if for example a graphic card is required or am i better investing in a laptop with a faster processor?

Id be interested to hear some opinions from players who run this game on laptops.

Cheers.

Make sure it has at least 800 pixels in height, 768 will not be enough, 900 or more is preferable. Faster processor will allow you to process turns faster, which is good when playing the AI. For WitW faster processor will also be good, as it makes more calculations than WitE, so buy something decent if you don't want to spend minutes waiting during logistics phase. Graphics card won't matter, those included with 2nd, 3rd or 4th generation Intel processor will be enough to run the game.

But the Intel Gfx will give you problems in other games. They need constant driver updates for game fixes but severla Laptop manufacturers have stoneage drivers and don't support installing the generic intel drivers.

I always install generic Intel drivers and they work. But I don't use Intel gfx for games, as I buy laptops with Nvidia GPU and Intel is used only for desktop apps, not games.

As I said it depends on the manufacturer, on Sony and Toshi Laptops they will most likely fail (unless you use the have-disk method)

In my experience Lenovo is a good brand, for your price, try the Y510

I'm running the game just fine on a 3-4 year old Dell Latitude E6410 w/ 2.53Ghz and 4GB Ram with an (upgraded at the time) NVIDIA video card w 512MB memory.
Rufus T. Firefly: Do you realize our army is facing disastrous defeat? What do you intend to do about it?
Chicolini: I've done it already. I've changed to the other side.
Firefly: What are you doing over here?
Chicolini: Well, the food is better
