Night Air Missions Problem?

Post by Platon »

Fighting a night air mission in Barbarossa impulse 8 one German fighter is against a russian fighter and bomber. In the beginning air to air combat rounds everything works fine, the results are one less compared to a day mission as it should be. The russian fighter is aborted in round 1 but the bomber stays and tries his luck. In the 3rd round he scores a 20 at -4 and rececives the result of AX/PX. Now shouldn' that be reduced to a DX (not that it does matter in this case because the only target ist the lonely german fighter, but nevertheless)? And what about the pilots fate in night fighting, is there some change to the day mission too?

with kind regards
And it is also my belief that there has to be CAP for the active player during Ground Support.

Yes, the combat result should have been reduced to a DX.

Pilot death results, on the other hand, are not affected by night, and are unchanged. (Assuming, of course, that a plane actually dies. A DX that is changed to an AA will not kill a pilot!)
14.2.3 Clarification: The pilot death result is unchanged.

Well it must be a bug then. Should I report this somewhere else or is this discussion in this forum good enough in that respect?

Report the bug in the Tech support forum. It would be best if you included a saved game from as close to when the bug occurred, and an description of what precisely you have to do (including dice rolls) to recreate it.

Before you do, it would be best to see if when you attempt to recreate the result, the same thing happens.

To save the game, compress the saved game to .zip format (right click on saved game file and send file to compressed folder) and then upload it when you post.
