Exploration Ship - Asteriods

Post by Cadune »

How do you get your exploration ships to explore all of the asteroids within a system?

My system has about 20 asteroids in it and right clicking > explore this system - they just sit idle?

Thanks in advance.

Not all asteroids have resources. Chances are the explorer has already looked at everything in the system and there is nothing of value on any of them.

As far as i remember: select exploration ship -> right click on star system -> explore -> this system

If something is unexplored in this system exploration ship should do it then go idle (then u can turn it back to auto with "a").

There is a case where an explorer may not find resources on a planet/asteroid. And that is if the explorer has to run away from a pirate or space monster attack. Space monsters in particular, since they tend to stay put where you find them, except in the case of the silvermist.

As well it helps to get the improved Resource Scanner tech, so you can scan an entire belt at one go. Rather than hitting each rock individually.

Resource scanners have a range, with improved versions having greater range, the initial one is quite small.

You don't even have to right click and explore each asteroid, or even right click -> explore system, unless youre ok with it being automated and taking longer.

It's enough to fly your exploration ship to one end of the belt manually, then manually fly them through the belt. They'll automatically scan each asteroid in range that they pass. Even with the small range on the starter scanner, it's usually big enough to scan every 'roid.
