Rockets Again

The development team behind the award-winning games Decisive Campaigns: From Warsaw To Paris and Advanced Tactics is back with a new and improved game engine that focuses on the decisive year and theater of World War II! Decisive Campaigns: Case Blue simulates the German drive to Stalingrad and into the Caucasus of the summer of 1942, as well as its May preludes (2nd Kharkov offensive, Operation Trappenjagd) and also the Soviet winter counter-offensive (Operation Uranus) that ended with the encirclement of 6th Army in Stalingrad and the destruction of the axis minor armies. With many improvements including the PBEM++ system, this is a release to watch for wargamers!

Rockets Again

Post by Michael T »

Rockets don't seem to act like indirect fire weapons when firing across a river. It seems the have to pay the river cost AP's to attack. Should not they be like Artillery in this respect?

Hi Michael,

Yes they are not artillery for game purposes. This is done to nudge the player towards utilizing them in their historical role in direct support with a land attack.
The loss of AP reflects their time-use as well. For example artillery doing a bombard attack will use all remaining AP.

Best,
Vic

Yes I understand that. I am rather inferring to the AP loss to attack across a river.

For example I have Rockets move up to a river with 40 AP left but they can't contribute to the attack. Where as Artillery with 40 AP left will fire for 4 rounds. Why can't the Rockets fire for 4 rounds? Because they must attack with the regular units. I am saying that should not Rockets be excluded from the extra AP required to attack across rivers. It doesn't seem to be correct.

BTW I like Rockets :)

I want more....

As i said before try to consider the rockets like close-support weapons to the land offensive and the action points as time-wise as well.

If its really an issue you can go into the editor and set artillery range for rockets to 1. When you do this you'll be able to assign them bombard missions.

Best wishes,
Vic

Ok thanks.

But IMO the way you have configured the Rockets makes them a little too ineffective in respect to their historical impact. They take so long to replenish that the player must have them very close if not in the front line to get any real value out of them. Which kind of telegraphs their intent and defeats their advantage of mobility and relatively short set up time.

But this is only a small gripe. I am really growing very fond of this game. It's much more to my liking than WITE.

Thanks Vic [:)]
