Mouseover on the IJN carriers shows 61 fighters and 56 bombers. We got lucky somehow. Perhaps some lost IJN bombers stopped to look for marine mammals or something.

So what will JJ do? Well, despite the combat replay showing a torpedo wrecking Soryu...the combat report says no....so I predict JJ will stay around another day for fun. They did not suffer heavy losses to air crews.

---The two 8 plane TBF squadrons on the CVE's are at about half strength. The F6F squadrons are fresh. One of the CVE's with TBF's aboard is out of torps. We have two fresh TBF squadrons that can fly in from Shemya (one of 28 planes and the other a mini-CVE squadron of 8. We could send back an F6F squadron to Shemya and bring in the big TBF squadron for more striking power but they would have to use bombs. Probably better to just send the smaller squadron to Essex and keep as many Hellcats with the CVE's as possible.

---As the IJN carriers will have an escort, it is also possible that they will break off a surface group and head for Simishuri-jima or Shikuka. Most of the combat troops are ashore so the best thing to do is stop unloading and retreat the amphibiosu groups at Shikuka and Simi N and NE into the Sea of Okhtosk

---We can unite the CV/CVL and the CVE's in one hex NE of Shimushiri somewhere and accept battle.

---Probably best to hold off the Onnekaton landing for today and use the Canadians as a reserve if needed for Shimushiri.

Hmmmm. We aren't allowed to have fireworks so that probably takes out the rockets. Not sure about mortars or Napoleans. I probably need to ask Eva.

That estate used to be my client when I worked in banking. Used to cause me no end of grief when he was buying those things - I'd get a message from his ex-wife saying I was supposed to wire XX ten's of thousands of dollars to India (or some other borderline sketchy country) because he was buying a new tank and based on his past history and net worth to the bank I'd do it. I always sweated it though till he stopped in next time and wasn't pissed. I helped him buy a Bren gun carrier and I believe the first privately owned T-72 in addition to several others. He also was looking at buying one of those upside down airmail stamps so we made escrow arrangements for that - was pretty cool as they invited me in to look at and 'hold' the stamp.

Would have been way cooler if I got to drive the tanks, which he used to do once a year for a local charity event, but the branch manager always got to jump in one as her husband had actually been in armored combat (against the Israelis and survived) so the client was always way interested in talking with him to get his stories.

That was a crazy great branch to work in, amazing astounding clients, you never knew who was sitting across from you - I got even got invited to attend Pebble Beach Pro Am buy one of the local cougars....

I think she was more interested in the 'wood' vs the 'putter'. She was through several husbands at that point she kept an 8 carat engagement ring in her safe deposit box... Her son is actually very well known. I deferred on the option due to a relationship at the time but in retrospect the way that relationship turned out should have tried to catch a drink with Bill Murray....

The individual was an heir to an extremely well known fortune so he restored everything to pristine conditions - he got interested in organ music at one point and so had an exact replica (not a scale model) built in a custom built acoustically identical room added on to his house of the organ that music he was interested in was written on....
