Panama Canal

Is there a way to modify the map to disable to Panama Canal?

It would make an interesting variation if the Japanese had attacked and disabled the Panama Canal. It would take much longer for shipping from the East Coast of the USA to get to the Pacific.

Good question. A few years back, I believe someone brought that up as well. And the map itself, I guess could be modified to show a closed river. And then have another panel take its place later. Kind of like el cid is or was doing with the weather in the RHS mod. Read that thread. It might give you an idea on whats involved. Of course you would also have to modify the ship reinforcements to show up at the Faulklands. GP

I wonder if it might be possible to 'disable' it before a certain date, the same way the Mediterranean connection is done - in this case it would represent the delay due to reconstruction of the canal.

Someone more familiar with editing the map might know.

Of course you could just not use it. Send TFs that would normally go to the Panama Canal to Port Stanley.

You could also edit the off map routing table. If I remember correctly it's a file like the pwhex file.

Would deleting the Ports at either end disable it??

I have a feeling you'd have an explosion at the spaghetti factory in the off-map movement routines.
