Problems w/ Allied LBA

I'm playing as Allies, PBEM, Scen 16.

Its 3rd week of July and I'm trying to use my LBA at PM to support an assault on Lae. I've been trying to get my A/C to attack ground forces but can't even get one A/C to engage. They will attack ships that come in to range, even ships based Rabaul, but will not attack ground targets.

I've tried changing altitudes, used Naval Attack/Ground Attack orders, and plain Ground Attack orders, w/ and w/o escort, with no success. Needless to say my poor grunts at Lae are attacking w/o support and having a tough time. I've been at this for about 3 weeks of game time w/ 1 day turns

Her's the base info:

Av spt: +50 pts over required
Supply: 300% over required
Support is a few pts shy of required
Airfield size: 6
A/C: 350 (according to posts they should fly at 75%)

Am I missing something or do I have a bug or something?

How many fighters do you have to fly escort for your bombers? If he has fighters there your bombers may not fly without escort. They ae attacking ships because the ships are not protected by fighters.

Try setting your bombers on port attack. They will inflict damage on ground units located at the base.

Airfield attack is more effective, but try reducing the number of planes at the base to 300, despite the fact it says 75% will fly, this isnt always right, when the base gets to size 7 or you reduce number of planes you bombers will fly
